April Fool’s has always been known as the “day of pranks”. But how does a holiday like that get invented? It actually began in 1852, when March 25th was the day we celebrated the New Years, but then it was moved to April 1st, then it was moved to January 1st. It took everyone a couple years to finally get used to it but eventually it happened. Some people didn’t like the changes that were made and chose to be “rebellious” by keeping the old tradition of celebrating New Years on April 1st. Those people were considered “fools” and others would pull pranks on them to make them feel like fools. They would send them invitations to parties that didn’t exist, put paper fish on their backs, and everything else that they could think of. Over time, the pranks continued every year on April 1st, and other countries caught on to them and started doing it themselves every year also. It became the “day of prank-pulling" we now celebrate as April Fools.
