Ashlee Simpson is now known outside her music, outside 7th heaven and outside the fact that she is Jessica Simpson's little sister. Her now infamous lip syncing exposure on Saturday Night Live in October - which had Ashlee doing a 'hoedown' then embarassedly walking off stage, later to blame it on her band - has got lips flapping in hollywood. Elton John recently spoke out against lip syncers as did the often outspoken Avril Lavigne. Ashlee insists she doesn't make a habit of lip syncing and only did so on SNL due to a health problem. She has since regained fans performing totally live at the 2004 radio music awards.

What is your view on lip syncing and Ashlee's recent spat with it?

ashlee is still an amazing singer and because she was sick and lipsinced once doesn't make her a bad person. i bet jessica has lypsinced before too! almost every celeb has! - Lindsay

Lip syncing, in my opinion, is cheating. No matter what you do, there are ways to cheat. I'm not a musician, and I don't pretend to be, but I think if I was, stunts like this would make me upset. I think if Ashlee was under the weather, she should've just called the whole thing off. - Liss

I don't think people should lip-sync. People come to your shows to hear YOU sing, not the record backing you up. If people are lip-syncing becasue of a health problem, they need to tell the viewers/fans that they might need to use backups every now and then because of their health problems. If they lip-sync, and get caught (even if it is just once) people might think that they do it all the time. - Elisabeth
