Ashley Tisdale: It's a Suite Life
By Lydia

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Michelle Tisdale was born in Neptune, New Jersey on July 2nd, 1985. You may know this rising star from the award-winning Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical as Sharpay Evans.

As with many of her High School Musical co-workers, she says that she did not expect the film to be such a success, "It's crazy. I never imagined that happening. I just thought it was going to be really good for the Disney Channel, and it was so much fun for us to do. It's exciting. I haven't changed as a person at all. The only thing that has changed is that my life has gotten crazier, and busier, and I'm on covers of magazines that I've read since I was little. It's so weird to go to a grocery store and see my face on a magazine. It's really funny!"

Sharpay in High School Musical.

In the film Ashley costars with Monique Coleman, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, Zac Efron, and Vanessa Anne Hudgens. It premiered in January 2006 and it was the highest rated telecast in Disney Channel History. Ashley also made music history by being the first female music artist to ever debut on the Billboard Top 100 chart with two songs ‘Bop to the Top’ and ‘What I’ve Been Looking For’ (Duets with Lucas Grabeel)

You may also recognize Ashley from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, a hit Disney Channel Television Show currently in its second season. She plays Maddie Fitzpatrick on the show and stars opposite Dyan Cole Sprouse.

Not familiar with the show? Ashley explains the plot: "It's based in a hotel, called the Tipton, and it's mainly about Dylan and Cole Sprouse who play Zack and Cody. They live with their mom Terry who is a cabaret singer at the hotel. I play Maddie who is a candy-counter girl, she also baby-sits the boys, and she has this rival relationship with Brenda Song who plays London who is the hotel owner's daughter. Then we have Phil Lewis who is the manager, it's mainly about the boys running around and causing all this mischief. Maddie is like the All-American girl next door and she is really, really smart and she's blonde which is really, really cool. She doesn't try and find trouble, but trouble is always finding her, and London's always making her do these crazy things so she tries to get out of it and she's kind of a bit sarcastic but she's mainly the girl next door."

Like all stars, and regular people, Ashley has her memories she cherishes on the show, "I would have to say my most memorable moment would have to be, we actually did pie fighting in an episode "Romeo and Juliet." We were at this masquerade ball, pies are being thrown everywhere, and everybody gets hit with a pie. It was so funny because for once our crew members got to throw pies at us and so I think they had the best time throwing pies at the actors. I never really did a pie thing before so it was like so gross but at the same time I was so excited to get smacked in the face with a pie." Ashley, we think that was funny too! Not only has The Suite life of Zach and Cody received great ratings but Ashley gets paid 35 grand per episode. Lots huh?

Ashley has always liked acting and singing, but which is here favorite? "I can't choose! I love acting and singing. I can't say which one I love more." If she would have chosen just one, she may not have appeared in High School Musical as the girl everyone loves to hate (but we don't hate her in real life).

"There are so many people I want to work with, I actually worked with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and I'd love to work with her again. I would love to work with Johnny Depp, not only is he hot but he's such a good actor. I think that Leonardo DiCaprio is really great, my favorite actresses are Julia Roberts and Brittany Murphy. I've always have been told that I look like Brittany Murphy so I would love to be able to do a movie with her." Ashley says, regarding future roles.

It may seem like stars aren’t fans, but Ashley proves it wrong! "I love "American Idol," it's so funny because I always wonder since I'm a singer, what Simon will tell me. It would be so weird what he would say about me, it is like really crazy, but I totally get sucked into "American Idol." It's something that I love to watch, I watch it every week, yes I'm a big fan of "American Idol."

A younger (and brunette) Ashley

She has guest starred in many shows including 7th Heaven and Grounded For Life. But her favorite? "I think it would have to be "Seventh Heaven," because it was one of the first episodes that I ever did. I did "Smart Guy," and then I did "Seventh Heaven," and it was right as it came out and it was such a popular show and I was so excited. David Gallagher I've actually known since I was little, it was so funny playing his girlfriend because I think it was so cool ‘cause after that aired everybody was like "Oh my gosh, you were on Seventh Heaven." It was such a funny character because she was like a really mean girlfriend and I got to play Simon's first girlfriend so I was very excited."

Ashley also has a record deal with Warner Bros. "I always wanted to do an album, even before I was on the Disney Channel. I remember someone telling me to just take my time. I sang on a couple of episodes of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, but that was as my character, Maddie. When I booked High School Musical, it's weird, but it was kind of fate. It was just meant to happen. Now I have a recording contract at Warner Bros. It's the coolest thing." She made a music video for the remake of 'Kiss The Girl', which you can see below.

"It's my first single. It's my first real debut of my music video. The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie as a child. I really loved it. There's just something magical about it. You just get chills watching it."

As usual, we at Portrait, always have the scoop. We had found out three titles of three possible songs that will feature on Ashley’s album. They are "Love Me For Me", "Over It", and "He Said, She Said".

She had a swell time at a Six Flags Park. Below is a recent diary entry from Ashley’s official site:

“Last weekend I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain
with a bunch of my friends. We got tickets, headed
to the park, and went straight to the scariest rides
first! I swear I got whiplash from riding the rides
so much, but it was so much fun. We made sure to
hit up every single ride in the park (my favorite
is Riddlers Revenge!) and while my friends kept
going on rides, I decided to go shopping. I love that
airbrush kind of style on things, so I got this cool
trucker hat that says "Over It" on the front in
blue graffiti airbrush. "Over It" is the name of one
of the songs on my album, but I also just think
it's a cool saying like, I'm over it, let's do our
own thing. I also got a tiny henna tattoo on my
ankle (I'm too scared to get a real one). It's a star
--it's cute! Then I met up with my friends who
were feeling sick after riding the rides a million
times! Right now I'm watching 24 on DVD because
I'm trying to catch up before the new season
comes on! I'm running out of time! I'm also
voting for Monique on Dancing with the Stars.
I'm double phoning it to get more votes in! I gotta
head to The Grove to meet my friends for dinner
now (one of my favorite places to go in Los Angeles,
by the way), so I'll talk to you soon!”

We will post more information on Ashley’s new CD like audios and videos when we can. We hope she does great on her album (and I would be first in line for it, wait I would pre-order it)! Good luck Ashley!
