Canada is full of some of the best and amazingly talented people; some of our readers might have even heard of a few like Avril Lavigne, Elisha Cuthbert, Ellen Page, Hayden Christensen, Howie Mandel, Jim Carrey, Justin Bieber, Keanu Reeves, Kim Cattrall, Michael Buble, Michael Cera, Mike Myers, Rachel McAdams, Ryan Reynolds, Simple Plan, Tom Green & Will.i.am. Alright, I admit the Canadian in me came out a little and I named more than a few but hey; Canada is wicked and deep down you know it too! Since this is my first article on Canadian talent I’m going to tell you about three of my favourites, These three guys can dance, they can sing, they are completely gorgeous and completely Canadian; also a fun fact they are all related! Nope it’s not The Jonas Brothers, all though they are cute and talented, they are not Canadian. These three young men aren’t even in a group together; they are all at totally different points in their careers. One is in the midst of an unforgettable comeback after taking a break to start his own little family, the second is in studios recording his second album which is sure to be a hit like his first and the third is just starting out in the business and already has a huge following. Shawn Desman & Danny Fernandes
Shawn Bosco Fernandes known by his stage name Shawn Desman was born on January 12, 1983 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His nickname "Desman" is derived from his legal/real last name Fernandes, he is the oldest of three boys and his two younger brothers are Daniel and Jonathan. Daniel Bosco Fernandes was born 2 years later on September 16th. Growing up Danny always looked up to Shawn who at just 9 years old began performing in his Portuguese and Italian communities. Singing might arguably be Shawn’s first love, but before he started singing he started Dancing and little brother Danny followed, immediately falling in love with hip-hop style of dance. By the time Shawn Desman was signed to UOMO Records and released his first self-titled English album in 2002 he already had a huge fan base worldwide with not only the Latin community but others as well who first caught a glimpse of Shawn dancing in the Boomtang Boys video for their song ‘Squeeze Toy’. Danny joined his brother Shawn on tour as one of his back up dancers after receiving two consecutive Rising Star awards in the annual CNE dance contest and becoming the youngest member of the Toronto Raptors' famed Dance Pak he also began to appear regularly as a backup dancer in music videos. After a few years backing his brother Danny decided to do things on his own and when receiving a good response from his single ‘Curious’ (which was leaked) decided that 2008 was just as good a time as any and was instantly signed with CP Records.
Both of the brothers have had many top ten hits on not only Canadian based music channel MuchMusic but various radio stations across Canada and have plenty of music awards to back that up, proving they have a great natural talent at hand. "Shook", "Spread My Wings", "Get Ready" and “Let’s Go” are a few of Shawn’s chart toppers and from Danny’s first album he’s had the honour of having these songs “Private Dancer” and “Fantasy” appear on Canadian charts. At present time Shawn Desman has just recently release his third album; first in his music industry comeback and already has his first two singles “Shiver” and “Night Like This” rising in the charts and getting lots of airplay Showing that his music is what fans missed most and not his signature ‘sidewalk’ haircut. While Shawn will be joining the Backstreet Boys on the Canadian lag of their tour Danny Fernandes will be in studios working on his second record and preparing for the release of his first single “Automatic". Tyler Medeiros
Tyler Medeiros born July 11, 1995, who has been referred to as the next Justin Bieber by fans is Shawn and Danny’s younger cousin. After listening to Shawn Desman, Danny Fernandes and Tyler there is no denying that this family has some amazing talents! Tyler started dancing a few years back at the age of 10 and just recently this summer joined his cousin Danny Fernandes as the newest addition to “Canadian Powerhouse”, CP Records. His music is greatly influenced by his two older cousins and icons like Michael Jackson, Usher and Justin Timberlake. After recording his first single “Please Don’t Go”, which is scheduled to have the video released this August; Tyler joined Danny Fernandes among other artists just as summer started on the MuchMusic Soda Pop Tour which helped him to build his already big and still growing fan base. As soon as the tour ended he jumped back into studios with his cousin Danny and together recorded Tyler’s second single “Girlfriend”. Tyler has been appearing all over with Danny who has taken his little cousin under his wing and helping encourage his fans and others alike that Tyler is not only the next Justin Bieber but something much much more! Tyler Medeiros is currently working hard with song-writers RyanDan, Belly and producer Da Heala to complete his very first album which I believe is destined to be huge! He’s also working with choreographer Romeo Casellas rehearsing dance routines for all of his songs.
