Who’s hot this month?

Steel Magnolia

You’ve heard of American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, X Factor, America’s Got Talent and various other reality television shows. But the question is, have you heard of Can You Duet The show is on the Country Music Television channel, and features duos that are hopeful to make it to the end, similar to Idol. If you show up without a partner, you can be assigned one. However, that wasn’t the case with Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones.

Meghan Linsey, a twenty-three year old from New Orleans, began performing when she was younger. At fifteen she had opened for Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, and other country artists. In 2004 she moved to Nashville to pursue music.

Joshua Jones, a twenty-eight year old from Illinois, also performed when he was younger. Josh played clubs in Los Angeles, such as the Viper Room, and was close to being homeless. He decided to move to Nashville to pursue music. Soon after he moved to Nashville, he began singing and writing music.

In March 2006, the two met at Printer’s Alley in Nashville. They took the stage and sang together, realizing they were meant to sing together. Their first performance together was that night at a karaoke bar singing “I’m All Out of Love.”

Steel Magnolia won season two of Can You Duet. Since then, they have released their debut single (in 2009), “Keep on Lovin’ You.” The song has since reached number twenty four on country charts, however it’s still climbing. The music video was directed by Trey Fanjoy, who has directed videos for the likes of Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, and Keith Urban.

Their debut album is set to be released February 9th, 2010. The album is currently untitled, though.
