Have you discovered the wonderful world of fan fiction? A Fan Fiction is a fictional story in which the writer borrows the character, the premise or some other aspect from an existing film, book, movie, etc. Fan Fictions are a great platform for young, aspiring writers to grow their talents while providing entertainment for others. In Portrait's new column: Fan Fiction Spotlight, we highlight a collection of entertaining fan fictions we've found on the internet.

Counting Down, a Heathers Fanfic.
Rating: T for Teen

Counting Down isn’t a full-fledged fan fiction, just an alternate ending to the movie Heathers. Basically, this is what would have happened if, deep down, JD hadn’t been a total maniac, as the movie suggested. Personally, I’ve always sort of wished that he didn’t die at the end, and that the movie ended just like this fanfic. Then again, I’m a sucker for happy endings. Especially when they’re unlikely and surreal. So, yeah, I was pretty pleased with this one.

No Such Mercy, a Charlie Bartlett Fanfic.
Rating: T for Teen

Charlie’s dad is finally let out of jail, and he’s ABUSIVE? Hot damn, for drama mama. I actually liked this fanfic (despite how very cliché it was) because I loved getting a taste of a Charlie who isn’t in control. Combine that with a glimpse of how much he cares about his mother, and what a great guy Mr. Gardner really is when he’s not drunk out of his mind… and this fanfic calls for a group ”awwwh.
