Fanlistings:
We lok at the current internet Craze

If you don't yet own a fanlisting or two (or three, or four, or more), have joined/visited one or at very least have heard of one then what internet rock have you been living under? ;)

Fanlistings were created a few years ago by a fan of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. She wanted to know how many fans of the show there were around the world, so she started the first ever fanlistings. Other people soon started their own fanlistings and it fast became so popular that 'The Fanlistings' was created to list all the fanlistings (more on that later)

A fanlisting is as the name says - A list of fans. With info on listed people such as name, e-mail (optional), country, and website (Optional) a fanlisting is a great way of making friends with people with whom you have similar tastes. Fanlistings can also be great for finding out information on a topic. Many have great links and affiliates.

Fanlisting subjects range from everything from Actors to Movies, Musicians to Songs, Tours to Music Videos, Food to Drinks, TV to Books, Computers to Games and so forth.

Traditionally if you wish to start a fanlisting on a certain topic you first check at TheFanlistings.Org to see if there isn't already one (this saves fans from signing up to multiple lists and ensures one big list rather then many small ones), you then apply and wait to be approved for the fanlisting. If you are you can the start work (you will be given a month to complete you fanlisting and it will then be listed at TFL)

A fanlisting traditionally contains an about section, rules, codes (for people to list the site in a 'I'm a fan of..' section), A form to join, and a list of the fans.

Fanlistings recently spawned an opposite, 'The Hatelistings' a slightly more negative theme on which lists are of people who hate a certain topic

TheFanlistings.Org currently has 46,484 fanlistings listed. And there are many fanlistings in existence, independent of the site.
