From sparkles to metallics, mini skirts to avant-garde, this year’s American Music Awards were no exception. Check out some of these highlights from this year’s award show. Carrie Underwood dazzles in an off the shoulder style. Shakira keeps summer alive in sunshine yellow. Kristen Bell follows this year’s metallic theme as does Selena Gomez in equally age appropriate styles. Kelly Clarkson joins the sparkle theme. Demi Lovato breaks away from the silvers and golds of the evening for a soft pink dress, a lovely change from her usual black preferences.

The So-So Blake Lively as Serena on Gossip Girl. The dress itself is nice enough, but since when did Serena dress so modestly? Kristen Stewart stepped up her style at the New Moon premiere but the lightness of the dress washes her out a little too much. Had Kristen maintained the softer brown color of Bella’s hair, it would have been perfection. The Seriously Should Think Again Jessica Szohr as Vanessa on Gossip Girl in a jacket that is all wrong. No tailoring gives Jessica zero curves and the colors look like something out of a 1973 prom. Stephenie Meyer has sold millions of books and has the number one movie in the world right not, yet she shows up to the New Moon premiere in this.

Hint and Tip of the Week: Embrace your inner biker/rocker chick and pick up a leather jacket. It adds a little to a casual outfit of jeans and a t-shirt. Even more fun though is to add it to a fancy dress. Stick to a bomber style jacket, a solid colored dress, and short skirt length. Always take the time to invest in a higher quality jacket, note that faux leather can be decent quality while pleather will be destroyed with the slightest drop of water. A leather jacket can be the perfect fall addition to summer style.
