Nickie Ferrante is a famous playboy and an aspiring painter that is due to be married until he meets Terry McKay, who is also engaged in another relationship, aboard the SS Constitution. They fall in love the minute they meet, even though they had prior engagements. They agreed that they would meet in the Empire State Building in six months time to see if they felt the same way.
Unfortunately, the day of their romantic rendezvous Terry suffers from a terrible car accident. Nickie waits for Terry all day, then at night decides to leave thinking that Terry has forgotten all about him. Terry refuses to see Nickie the way she was--crippled and incapacitated. Nickie then runs into her and all sorts of trouble begins as this amazing love affair happens!
Cary Grant as Nickie Ferrante: Archibald Alec Leach, better known as Cary Grant, was named the Greatest Male Star, after Humphrey Bogart, by the American Film Institute. He had worked with very famous classic actresses such as Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Deborah Kerr as Terry McKay: Deborah Jane Kerr-Trimmer was a well-known Scottish actress. She was nominated six times for an academy award, but still never won. She is recognized as Perfection, Discipline and Elegance. Other films by her include Contraband, The Chalk Garden and Casino Royale.
