Best friends Tracy Turnbald and Penny Pingleton both audition to be on the The Corny Collins Show and Tracy wins. Things turn into chaos when Amber Von Tussle and her mom plan to destroy everything and anything that is left of Tracy.

‘Hairspray’ is scheduled to come out sometime in July 2007. “We’re having 2 months of rehearsals” says co-star Zac Efron. Right after Zac is done filming this movie, he will start shooting High School Musical 2 with co-stars Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman.

"It's been so much fun. I've been having the best time." Said Amanda Bynes in September after recently starting filming, and when asked what she thought of John Travolta's get up as Tracy Turnbald's mother Edna turnbald (yes, as a woman) she responded "I thought he really just looked incredible. Like, you know, he looks like a lady, and I think that's what you want, you just want him to look real."

With Queen Latifa as funky, hip DJ Motormouth Maybelle, John Travolta as Edna Turnbald, Christopher Walken as Wilbur Turnbald and Zac Efron (who cut and dyed his hair black and was told to ‘bulk up’ and gain 15 pounds for the role) as handsome and popular Link Larkin, we’re sure this movie will be a blast!
