Get Out of the Friend
Zone in Seven Days!
By Kim
It’s time to trade in those high-fives with your favorite guy for some quality handholding time. Is the apple of your eye the one person you share everything with? Your best friend, your new friend, or whatever he may be… take these next 7 days to help say goodbye to buddy boy and hello to cuddle boy.
Lizzie and Gordo were an adoreable example of a BFF relationship blossoming into romance. |
DAY 1: Change your state of mind
Okay, enough of the day dreaming of prince charming riding on his stallion. The more you focus on your pal and what you want out of the friendship, the harder it will be to convince yourself and him that this is the right thing for you both. The trickery of this situation lies in your confidence. So rid yourself of wanting perfection and step foot in reality because that’s where the magic really starts!
DAY 2: Compare him to some other stud
Guys by nature are very competitive. Whether it be in sports, knowledge, or getting numbers, guys thrive on being better than their buds. Use this to your advantage. While with your guy-to-be compare him in some way with a guy who passes by. “Don’t you have that shirt? You look much better in it than he does.” This shows him that not only do you think he is hotter than others but that you have good taste. He’ll see you in a new light now that you subtly hinted that he is a major babe rather than a study buddy.
DAY 3: Let him call you
Showing you don’t need him makes a guy want you more. Don’t abuse this power too much, he might think you aren’t interested at all. Simply don’t IM him first, or don’t text him first asking how his day is going. Let him walk over to you before you start a conversation. When guys see you are so dependent on them they either think you are obsessed or that you are just like all his other friends. So put down that phone and paint those toenails instead… which in turn is a double plus because not only do you look fabulous, but you are on his mind as you do so.
DAY 4: Ask him for a little one on one outing
One reason you are probably in this friend zone is because you and your man candy are always hanging out with other people. Instead of seeing you as “the one” he is busy seeing you as “another one”. Casually ask him to go with you to buy tickets for a hot new concert coming to town. Don’t make it seem like a date… this could freak him out. You want to use this time together to show him that you can be a good friend but a better lover.
"I think you like Dan a little too much," Blair warned Dan's bff Vanessa, last season on Gossip Girl. Will this girl get her guy? |
DAY 5: Create an inside joke
Make him remember you by getting something between just you and him in his brain. That way every time he hears this joke from another mouth he will think of you. Don’t make it something that gives him a bad image of you. It needs to be something that will put a smile in his face and want to get next to you.
DAY 6: Flirt your way to the top
You man may have other prospects, so it’s time to get your name to the top of the list. Showing your flirty side could be the way to get up there. Random physical contact, using his name more in conversation, and flashing him that irresistible smile are all great ways to get his attention. Whisper something in his ear. Not only does it make him listen to your lovely voice, but it gives a hint of mystery. Once again… don’t overdue it!
DAY 7: Final call
Here it is. The moment you have waited all week for. This is the time to celebrate the efforts you have made these past few days. It is down to this moment. Call (don’t text) your friend and officially ask him out on a date. This is quite nerve racking so take your time… but don’t let it pass you! Make your move and turn your boy-friend into your boyfriend. Good luck!
