Katy doesn’t like to be compared to other music artists saying “I want to be my own person. I hope people take what I do as my own, and don't label me." Her debut album is called Because I can and without failing takes you on a poetic yet truthful journey from start to finish. Katy Rose started writing seriously when she was 13 years old “It was a bad year. I was having problems at home; I was having problems at school, problems with myself, being in my own skin. I started writing music as an outlet that wasn't self-destructive." Growing up in L.A no doubt had a big role in her life and writing of music. "When you grow up in L.A. like I did you are exposed to really grown-up experiences at a young age.” This might be why she writes as though she’s wise beyond her years. Katy takes the truth and puts it right in front of the world to judge and my judgement is that Katy puts words on paper and belts them out better than I ever could and that’s a pretty good accomplishment for a girl just trying to do what she loves best. As for her musical influences Katy Rose is a big fan of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, The White Stripes and Fiona Apple. Katy Rose hasn’t hit the big time like some artists but I’m betting in time she’ll rise to be a much respected artist amongst our pop culture world. She’s a talented, pretty and smart girl doing what she loves and the best part is that her music is great, make sure to listen to the songs below; she could just be your new favourite artist.
