On July 18, Kristen Bell will celebrate her 26th birthday. In the last couple of years, she has gone from a virtual unknown in the Hollywood scene to a well recognized face, popular TV star and burgeoning film star.

Kristen's big break came in 2004 when she was cast as the title character in the teen drama Veronica Mars. The show centers on 17-year-old Veronica, a tough and intelligent young woman who became a social outcast in her town and school after the mysterious death of her best friend Lilly. Veronica's father, Keith, was the deputy sheriff who went after Lilly's father causing a great outcry in their hometown of Neptune. Now Keith works as a Private Investigator and Veronica helps out working as his secretary. Over the years she has picked up numerous skills for solving cases and is known around town and at school as something of a 21st century Nancy Drew.

"I loved Veronica right off the bat. She was so strong and I think it is so important because there are so few shows that portray women, especially young women as being strong and being able to stand up for themselves" Kristen says. "What I love is that it shows kids that the loser can be the cool person; High school is not the be-all, end-all of the world."

Veronica Mars will start it's third season in the Autumn on the newly formed CW. Though it has yet to achieve huge ratings the show has received constant rave reviews from critics, has a loyal fan base and is thought to be 'on the bubble' (about to become a huge hit). In this writer's opinion it is one of the best shows on television and not to be missed.

Hitting theatres in July is Kristen's first horror film Pulse, an American remake of the Japanese Horror film Mattie.

"The cool thing about Japanese horror movies is that they don't base themselves on showing blood and guts. It is much more of a mind game and harder to figure out." Kristen said recently.

Kristen recently completed Fanboys, a film about a group of lifelong friends who embark on a journey from Ohio to the Skywalker Ranch in Northern California. Their goal in the film is to steal a copy of "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" so that a dying friend can see it before its worldwide release. Kristen plays the only girl in the group; "I play Zoey, this nerdy comic star girl who hangs out with all the fanboys and is sort of one of the guys and sort of not."

Regarding the film Kristen recently said to MTV: "Four guys wanting to drive across country to break into Lucas' ranch I mean who doesn't want to do that once in their life, you know?"

She recently raved about the film to TV Guide saying, "It's a massive love letter. An orgy to the fans. And the movie is hysterical. It's about these four guys and this one sort of nerdy girl who attaches herself to them. [They] drive cross-country to break into George Lucas' ranch to steal [Star Wars: Episode I], because it's 1998. It's a great cast and I hope everyone's going to love it. Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams cameo. It's really funny."

Kristen will also be seen in Flatland: The Movie, Roman and Fifty Pills all of which hit theatres in 2006.

Kristen came in at #68 on last years Maxim's Hot 100 and recently did a photo shoot for the men's magazine. However, she insists she hopes to maintain a classy image in her career. "I'm not a risk taker. I don't do plunging necklines or really short skirts. I try to stay as classy as possible and provide a little mystery."

With talent, beauty and that little something extra Kristen is certain to be a big name star in the future.
