But nevertheless, Megan is grateful for the opportunity to have starred in Transformers. "I don't usually do this, but I wanted to say something," she started at Spike TV's fourth annual Scream Awards. "There have been a lot of false reports about how I feel about this movie. I just want to be very clear that I've always felt I'm a very ordinary part of an extraordinary film. The movie took me out of obscurity and gave me a career, and I'm completely grateful to everyone involved with this franchise."
“I want someone who loves [Aspen] and loves the comic to play her,” she continues. “It doesn't have to be me, but I just didn't know of any actresses at the time that loved the comic or even knew about it. So I was sort of fiercely protective of it, because I didn't want it played by someone who doesn't [care] about it. They just wrote the first draft of the script, and everybody's really happy with it. I haven't read it yet, but the studio's really happy with it and there's growing excitement around the project.”
Finally, whether you like Megan’s acting abilities or not, you have to admit that some of the controversial things she says put her on the list of Hollywood’s most opinionated, outspoken, and discussed. Here are a few of the most memorable things that Megan has said in interviews, from onscreen kissing to farts to Robert Pattinson.
"If you want your girls to feel strong and intelligent and be outspoken and fight for what they think is right, then I want to be that type of role model." - Times of London, June 2009 "People…complain that I'm too beautiful to get this part…you wouldn't be working if you weren't attractive. Hollywood is the most superficial thing you could possibly be a part of. And if I weren't attractive I wouldn't be working at all." - Esquire, June 2009 "I think all women in Hollywood are known as sex symbols. That's what our purpose is in this business. You're merchandised, you're a product. You're sold and it's based on sex. But that's okay. I think women should be empowered by that, not degraded." - Entertainment Weekly, June 2009 "Screen kissing is…gross. This one kid I had to kiss had just eaten. And he passed a piece of whatever it was into my mouth. Not on purpose, like it was in his tooth or something. And it was really salty. I almost cried." - British GQ, July 2009 "There are some…actors who have been in the business for a while, who are very egocentric and have been able to sleep with a lot of girls for whatever reason, and because they don't know me they think I'm going to be this little cupcake, this Marilyn Monroe type who's going to bat my eyes and be like a receptacle for them." British GQ, July 2009 "I'm very confident in how I project my personality. But in terms of how I look, I'm completely, hysterically insecure. I'm self-loathing, introverted, and neurotic." - Cosmopolitan, October 2009 "If I knew who took [the topless] picture, I would personally cause them harm--physical harm, I'm not a…reality-TV star that's courting the paparazzi and wants my…picture taken all the time. I'm at my job and I'm trying to play a character and I'm trying to be serious, and this is the [stuff] that's happening to me. It makes me furious." - Allure, June 2010
"I'm actually frightened of [Angelina Jolie]. I haven't had the opportunity to meet her and I try to avoid that because I'm afraid. Angelina's a powerful person and I bet she would eat me alive. I guess that is why I'm afraid of her." - FHM, June 2007 "I didn't get along with Lindsay Lohan on Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, but you have to consider that we were 16-year-old girls. I haven't seen Lindsay since then, but I imagine she's grown and become a different person. I know I have." - Maxim, July 2007 "Robert [Pattinson] and Zac [Efron]—they're just too pretty, with the big hair and the suits. And Rob is, what, 22? Zac is 21? That’s a joke. Boys in their twenties are a waste of time. They have nothing to offer conversationally; they’re immature. I feel like I have a better shot with someone in his thirties.” - Elle, May 2009
"Putting my mouth [on restaurant silverware] where a million other mouths have been, just knowing all the bacteria that you carry in your mouth? Ucch!" - Allure, June 2010
"If you eat Chinese food, your farts come out like Chinese food. If you eat Mexican food, your farts come out like Mexican food. And milk, it's like-you can smell the warmth in the fart. My wardrobe on Transformers always smells like farts, and I have no idea why." - GQ, October 2008 "I don't understand why people don't have a…sense of humor. Always assume that I'm being sarcastic." - Entertainment Weekly, June 2009 |
