Since Portrait Magazine’s first feature about Megan Fox (read the article here) was published in July 2009, the head-turning actress, who recently celebrated her 24th birthday, has had a very busy schedule. With her roles in Jennifer’s Body and her most recent project Jonah Hex under her belt, Megan now has time to turn to concentrate on promoting Jonah Hex and working on her next big movie role in The Crossing.

After Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was released, Megan received her first lead-role in a movie. She played Jennifer Check in the horror flick Jennifer’s Body, a cheerleader possessed by a demon who begins to feed off the boys in a Minnesota town. Jennifer mysteriously gains an appetite for human blood after a fire at a local bar, and it’s up to Jennifer’s friend Needy to find out why all of her male classmates are being killed and find the truth behind Jennifer’s strange antics. The movie also starred Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody, and it gave Megan the chance to show off her acting skills and become known for something other than her role in the Transformers movies.

In April 2009, Megan began work on her upcoming movie Jonah Hex, which will be released on June 18, 2010. She plays character Leila, Jonah Hex’s (Josh Brolin) love interest who finds herself tangled in a quest for revenge. The movie is an adaptation of the DC Comics series about a gunslinger seeking revenge on the man who killed his family.

Recently, it was announced that Megan will not return as character Mikaela Banes to star in Transformers 3. However, the reason why is unknown; some say that director Michael Bay decided to dump her while Megan’s friends and publicist have stated that it was her own decision to leave. “It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best," reps for the actress told People Magazine.

Megan’s dismissal comes as a surprise, since Michael Bay suggested on his blog in October that he was looking forward to working with her again. “P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back,” he said. “I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture.”

But nevertheless, Megan is grateful for the opportunity to have starred in Transformers. "I don't usually do this, but I wanted to say something," she started at Spike TV's fourth annual Scream Awards. "There have been a lot of false reports about how I feel about this movie. I just want to be very clear that I've always felt I'm a very ordinary part of an extraordinary film. The movie took me out of obscurity and gave me a career, and I'm completely grateful to everyone involved with this franchise."

Megan on the set of Passion Play

Megan’s next project will be the movie Passion Play, which is currently in post-production. She stars in the movie with Mickey Rourke and Bill Murray. Megan’s character is a caged circus freak with angel-like wings growing out of her back, who is saved from a life of imprisonment by a trumpet player. “It is clearly not going to be a typical [love story],” Megan tells MTV.

Megan also will star as the lead role of Aspen Matthews in the film adaptation of the “Fathom” comic books. The story focuses on Aspen, a marine biology graduate student who unknowingly comes from a race of ocean dwellers known as the Blue. Megan will also co-produce the movie with her boyfriend Brian Austin Green and has repeatedly expressed her love for the series and its creator. "I grew up reading the comic book," she said to MTV. "I really found some similarities with her that I sort of took safety in, in a weird way, as a kid.”

“I want someone who loves [Aspen] and loves the comic to play her,” she continues. “It doesn't have to be me, but I just didn't know of any actresses at the time that loved the comic or even knew about it. So I was sort of fiercely protective of it, because I didn't want it played by someone who doesn't [care] about it. They just wrote the first draft of the script, and everybody's really happy with it. I haven't read it yet, but the studio's really happy with it and there's growing excitement around the project.”

Megan has also been reported to have signed a contract to star as the lead female role in the movie The Crossing, which will be released sometime in 2011. The movie is about a young couple who get caught up in a drug trafficking scheme during their vacation to Mexico when their car is hijacked and Megan’s husband is kidnapped. However, the movie is still looking for a director so filming is currently on hold.

Finally, whether you like Megan’s acting abilities or not, you have to admit that some of the controversial things she says put her on the list of Hollywood’s most opinionated, outspoken, and discussed. Here are a few of the most memorable things that Megan has said in interviews, from onscreen kissing to farts to Robert Pattinson.

On Hollywood and her image:
"If you want your girls to feel strong and intelligent and be outspoken and fight for what they think is right, then I want to be that type of role model." - Times of London, June 2009

"People…complain that I'm too beautiful to get this part…you wouldn't be working if you weren't attractive. Hollywood is the most superficial thing you could possibly be a part of. And if I weren't attractive I wouldn't be working at all." - Esquire, June 2009

"I think all women in Hollywood are known as sex symbols. That's what our purpose is in this business. You're merchandised, you're a product. You're sold and it's based on sex. But that's okay. I think women should be empowered by that, not degraded." - Entertainment Weekly, June 2009

"Screen kissing is…gross. This one kid I had to kiss had just eaten. And he passed a piece of whatever it was into my mouth. Not on purpose, like it was in his tooth or something. And it was really salty. I almost cried." - British GQ, July 2009

"There are some…actors who have been in the business for a while, who are very egocentric and have been able to sleep with a lot of girls for whatever reason, and because they don't know me they think I'm going to be this little cupcake, this Marilyn Monroe type who's going to bat my eyes and be like a receptacle for them." British GQ, July 2009

"I'm very confident in how I project my personality. But in terms of how I look, I'm completely, hysterically insecure. I'm self-loathing, introverted, and neurotic." - Cosmopolitan, October 2009

"If I knew who took [the topless] picture, I would personally cause them harm--physical harm, I'm not a…reality-TV star that's courting the paparazzi and wants my…picture taken all the time. I'm at my job and I'm trying to play a character and I'm trying to be serious, and this is the [stuff] that's happening to me. It makes me furious." - Allure, June 2010

On other famous celebrities:
"I'm actually frightened of [Angelina Jolie]. I haven't had the opportunity to meet her and I try to avoid that because I'm afraid. Angelina's a powerful person and I bet she would eat me alive. I guess that is why I'm afraid of her." - FHM, June 2007

"I didn't get along with Lindsay Lohan on Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, but you have to consider that we were 16-year-old girls. I haven't seen Lindsay since then, but I imagine she's grown and become a different person. I know I have." - Maxim, July 2007

"Robert [Pattinson] and Zac [Efron]—they're just too pretty, with the big hair and the suits. And Rob is, what, 22? Zac is 21? That’s a joke. Boys in their twenties are a waste of time. They have nothing to offer conversationally; they’re immature. I feel like I have a better shot with someone in his thirties.” - Elle, May 2009

On her mental health:
"I think that I'm so psychotic and so mentally ill that if I could tap into that I could do something really interesting." - Entertainment Weekly, June 2009

"Putting my mouth [on restaurant silverware] where a million other mouths have been, just knowing all the bacteria that you carry in your mouth? Ucch!" - Allure, June 2010

And finally…
"If you eat Chinese food, your farts come out like Chinese food. If you eat Mexican food, your farts come out like Mexican food. And milk, it's like-you can smell the warmth in the fart. My wardrobe on Transformers always smells like farts, and I have no idea why." - GQ, October 2008

"I don't understand why people don't have a…sense of humor. Always assume that I'm being sarcastic." - Entertainment Weekly, June 2009
