May 5th: Ciara—Fantasy Ride
Ciara--Fantasy Ride Ciara’s third studio album releases this month and it looks like some great music. She has several guests contribute on the album including Missy Elliot, Ludacris, Chris Brown, and The-Dream. Her first US single off the album was “Never Ever” featuring Ludacris. The second US single and first worldwide was Love Sex Magic, with Justin Timberlake. The song has already become a big hit. The album itself promises energetic beats, top notch production and some great dance fun for the summer.
The third place finisher of American Idol season 5 releases his sophomore album this May. The first single “Fight for Love premiered in February. Elliot worked with a number of producers to create his signature soulful, R&B tinged sound. Look especially for the song “When I’m Gone” which was produced by Jermaine Dupri (of Flight of the Conchords fame). It promises to be a good song and a good album.
Talk about one of the biggest albums of the summer. After the smash hit American Idiot (which has sold over 22 million copies), lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong realized the band was at a place of moving backward or staying the same. They chose to move forward and created what will be another brilliant album. “21st Century Breakdown” tells the story of a young couple in 3 parts: Heroes and Cons, Charlatans and Saints, and Horseshoes and Handgrenades. The band has previewed a few songs on their myspace site and just announced their tour dates April 20th. If the first songs tell anything its that this album can’t be missed. Run to the nearest store and buy your copy!
Iron & Wine releases what could be called a rarities collection this month. The album is a 2-CD/3-LP of tracks that cover the band’s entire existence. Most of the tracks have never been officially released (except a few as rough demos) and then there are other singles, covers, and random bits and pieces. This is what could easily be called the ultimate fan’s album.
Mandy Moore--Amanda Leigh
The singer who stated she'd personally refund everyone who purchased her first album if she could, releases her fifth studio album. The record, called 'Amanda Leigh' (Mandy's full name), has been described as "a collection of personal reflections and insights about life and love."
