Jessica Lombard (Vocals + everything else)
Jessica Lombard is a solo artist with an intriguing background. At the wee age of only 3 years, Lombard had a want to play the piano, and by 6 she was playing full fledged pieces. By the pre-teen age of 11, she had already wrote and recorded several songs. Lombard made a comeback a year later armed with a notebook brimming full of new songs. By 13, she had singing experience, breath taking lyrics, and a still wondrous voice.
“15 Minutes Ago”, Jessica's premier album is certainly a work of lyrical art. Her style has been compared to A Fine Frenzy, Tori Amos, Vanessa Carlton, and Kate Bush; though her influences include bands like Evanescence and Jewel. Jessica Lombard is an unsigned artist, but she has worked with an experienced producer: Jimmy Landry.
Lombard's entire album is the essence of gorgeous, but I especially love “Who You Really Are”. The vocal range is stunning, piano keys reach perfection, and the lyrics are a thing of beauty. My second favorite Lombard tune is a cover of Linkin Park's “Numb”. She turned a heavy rock song into a weighty ballad. I do not think any artist could have covered Numb any better.
Her album is available on iTunes, and on cdbaby.com. Jessica Lombard even knows how important it is to support organizations, too. She donates a portion of her proceeds to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and the Music for Relief fund.
I've gotta say- I'm not really a slow pop fan. I tend to shy away from anything that I can't dance or play my air guitar to. But Jessica Lombard's style really grew on me. Head over to her Myspace ASAP, and succumb yourself to the many melodies!
