MySpace Act of the Week: Artist vs. Poet
Members… Sharing a recording label with music industry giants like All Time Low and The Maine is no small accomplishment, and for Dallas band Artist Vs Poet, being signed by Fearless Records marked the start of a very promising musical career. learning quickly from the mistakes and successess of other bands, Artist vs Poet have thuroughly embraced the new technology-trends (think twitter, myspace and youtube), and are now offering interesting snippets and tour updates every day. Formed less than two years ago by lead singer Tarcy Thomason and guitarist Craig Calloway, AVP have quickly risen to the top of the pop-punk foodchain. The release of thier self titled debut album was followed by a cross-country tour, and a spot on music magazine alternative Press' "100 Bands You Need To Know In 2009". Not bad at all for a band who was formed through a Myspace bulletin. After touring with everyone from Breathe Carolina to Forever the Sickest Kids, they are now ready to embark on yet ANOTHER nationwide tour. Fans unable to see Artist Vs Poet at one of thier concerts needn't feel too left out, as they can catch a glimpse of the action on one of the bands numerous studio updates. The days of musicians being viewed as untouchable rockstars are over, connecting with fans is the new ticket to success, and the boys of AVP know it.
