Electronic music has slowly but surely been cementing its place in the popularity charts. Although it first started gaining interest in the 1980's, more recent breakout acts like 3oh!3, Death Cab For Cutie, and She Wants Revenge have perfected the art of computer-generated music, by adding interesting lyrics and catchy hooks. Following in the footsteps of such bands is Counting Constellations.

Counting Constellations is based in Newfoundland Canada, and is the solo project of David Jefferies. With sadness-tinged lyrics and some of the best keyboard since Depeche Mode, he has managed to make his music appeal to both fans of newer electronica, like Breathe Carolina, and classic 80's style, like Soft Cell. But, Counting Constellations is not like your average electro-pop band. Because he is based in a small town instead of a major city, Jefferies had to do everything for his band by himself. But, instead of detracting from the music quality, it adds to it. He is able to take chances that major label musicians can't, like using things like a wine glass and aluminum foil as sound effects. (Seems wierd, Sounds Amazing). With plans to release a full-length debut album late this season, or early the next, electronica fans whoare unable to wait can soothe their synthesizer cravings by checking out the bands Myspace, which features lyrics, photos, and six incredible new songs.
