MySpace Act Of The Week: Slim Twig
Sound is...
Members... Max Turnbull created the persona of Slim Twig to be able to perform in a different way, an original way. Here’s the thing you need to know about Slim Twig: most of the time, people either love his originality or hate his “noise” because he is hard to define. His sound is undeniably unique. While he has his music classified as “rockabilly” on his MySpace, I would say it leans more toward the electonica end of the spectrum, without ever going the way of having a thumping club sound or techno whirl. He combines instruments and “found sounds” in an interesting way, and he doesn’t sugar coat. His lyrics have been described as razor sharp, and he doesn’t shy away from imagery that not everyone will agree with. Even if you find that you don’t like his style, you can’t deny he has talent. He knows how to get people to listen, and with four albums currently to his credit, people have plenty to choose from. When he’s not creating a brand new sound, he’s also composing music for feature films, as well as dabbling in acting. He’ll be playing shows throughout the United States and Canada through the end of 2009, so if his MySpace leaves you curious, take a chance and check him out. |
