Ah the many things you can do with cinnamon. You can use if to flavor food, as a spice, as a sweet scent for the room, just for looks, or some people even use it in their baths for healing remedies or calming remedies. Cinnamon is wonderful for the body, mind, and soul. You might even want to go to the store and pick up some extra cinnamon after reading this article.

History of Cinnamon

Cinnamon dates back to 2800 B.C. in China being used as a medicine and remedies. They used it to heal colds and flues and digestive problems. Although it’s one of the most common and popular spices to this day, it was once very rare, and much sought out for. If you had cinnamon you were considered wealthy and could make a very nice profit. Since 1976 it has spread to many other areas, making it very popular, but less valuable.

Healing Benefits

  • Cinnamon and honey used together have been used for decades as healing remedies. It’s been used to cure colds and flues. Especially when put in tea or coffee.
  • Gargling cinnamon in water has been used to cure bad breath.
  • There are 122 Chinese herbs used to help arthritis which includes cinnamon.
  • It can be used to lower blood sugar levels and also help with blood pressure.

    Smelling Benefits

    A lot of people will use cinnamon scented candles or incense and other air fresheners to help make their rooms smell more like cinnamon. But little did they know that they were actually improving their mental health by taking in this warm and soothing scent.

  • Studies have shown that when smelling the scent of cinnamon people become more alert, which has proven to help on exams and tests.
  • It also helps to relieve stress, which is also why some people will put it in a bath; it really helps soothe your brain cells and calms your nerves.

    So if you’re ever at the store, pick up some extra cinnamon, or a candle, or some lotion. It’s very soothing for the body and gets your digestive system up and going.
