Roll Out: Throw your own Pizza Party
Written by: Lydia M

Set up a buffet of pizza toppings and make a party with friends or relatives letting each person create your own masterpieces, without any complications.

Remember, the joy of making your own pizza? Well, that joy shall come again, but in a different way. Invite your friends and relatives, to have an old fashioned pizza party with no complications. Instead of working for perfection, you can work with your own hands, and let everyone do whatever they want (please, its going to get messy, have paper towels, and cleaning supplies handy). Maybe afterward, have a best pizza contest and have judges, and they taste and say which are better. It’s up to you, but the idea of this is to have fun and BE CREATIVE.

First things first, you need to make sure you have enough space for everyone to work. Try to keep your group small, no more than 6 people. Make invitations in shape of pizza, and give them to the guests (or, use my pre-made invitations, by scrolling below.) Plan the party, about two (2) weeks before the big day. For example, prior to the party you can divide people into two (2) groups (3 and 3). Give each a copy of this page, a pencil, and writing pad. Ask one group to make a shopping list, and another to set up which appliances and equipment will be needed. Then, tell them to give it to you, so you’ll know exactly what to get, and if you don’t have an appliance don’t be a shy puppy, ask someone attending or your next door neighbor if you can borrow one.

Rolling the dough
My dough (well it’s not mine, it’s my mothers) recipe is simple, but to make it even easier buy some small, self rising frozen cheese (bake with package directions). With some scratch dough, give each person a golf ball kind of sized dough ball, and a wooden rolling pin – also, a clean lightly floured work surface. Remember; wash your hands first!

Perfection is not necessary, like I had said before. Maybe one person wants to make a flower shape pizza, or a square pizza. Let them get out of the box, its not every day that you will have a pizza party!

Now, make sure to spread about a tablespoon of sauce above the top of the crust of pizza with the back of the spoons, and try to crimp the edges. Poke different color toothpick in the pizza, so you can identify which is which. Now, pop those delicious pies in the oven. When they are done, have fun and judge each other. Still, all pizzas will be great. Who knows, maybe one of your party goers will be a top chef some day! (And seriously, delivery pizza, couldn’t have accomplished what a pizza party can!)

Pizza Dough Recipe
(Times are approximate)
Preparation: 30 Minutes
Oven: 425 *F
Bake: 15 minutes

2 ¼ cups to 3 ¼ cups of all purpose flour
1 pack of active dry yeast
¼ of a tablespoon of salt
1 cup of warm water (120 *F to 130 *F)
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
Pizza Sauce
Toppings

STEP ONE:
In a large bowl combine 1 ¼ cups of flour, the yeast, and salt. Add warm water and oil, and then beat with an electric mixer, on a low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes. Using a spoon, stir as much of remaining flour that you can.

STEP TWO:
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead in enough remaining flour to make moderately stiff dough that is smooth and elastic-like (6-8 minutes total). Divide dough into golf sized balls, cover with a good plastic wrap. Let it rest for 10 minutes

STEP THREE:
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface, and then spread a tablespoon of sauce and add toppings.

STEP FOUR:
Bake 425 *F for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the oven.

And you’re set! I hope that the party is something that you will remember for years to come.
