2008 Portrait Choice Awards as voted by YOU!

2008 was a big year full of many talented performers. For weeks you guys voted, and now we’re proud to present to you the highlights of 2008 and winners of the 1st Annual Portrait Choice Awards!
Movie of the Year: Twilight
2008 was a massive year for anything Twilight related when Twilight mania exploded all over the world. The movie was no exception to the franchise and fans all over the world crowded cinemas to watch the much-anticipated film adaptation of the teenage vampire love story when it was released. Portrait readers were definitely no exception and were so dazzled by it that not only did the cast of Twilight take out the coveted number one position in our annual Top 30 Under 30 Poll, but the film itself won by a landslide in our Movie of the Year category, winning almost 50% of the 9000+ votes.
Runners Up: The Dark Knight, High School Musical 3: Senior Year .
Best Teen Show: Supernatural
It was close but you can’t go wrong with a pair of hot yet witty brothers running around fighting ghosts and demons. ;) Let’s face it, the Winchester brothers and the suspenseful action-packed journey they go on to fight supernatural forces are the driving force behind the fact that Supernatural has take out the Best Teen Show title in the Portrait Choice Awards. A firm favourite with Portrait readers, Supernatural won with 30% of the 11 500+ votes.
Runners Up: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill.
Best Performance (Movie & TV): Robert Pattison in Twilight
Although we had previously seen him as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films, playing the tortured teen vampire Edward Cullen in the much anticipated Twilight film, not only saw Robert Pattison’s popularity sky-rocket but also provided him with the opportunity to sink his teeth into a more prominent and challenging role, and he certainly did not disappoint! It was a close race between Robert and second place in this category, but in the end Robert managed to hold out winning with 24% of the 9000+ votes.
Runners Up: Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Demi Lovato in Camp Rock .
Coolest Newcomer: Tokio Hotel
If our 2008 Top 30 Under 30 Poll was any indication, you guys LOVE Tokio Hotel, alternating between first and second place during the many weeks of voting, the guys of Tokio Hotel may have ended up second place in the end, but this time around all you Tokio Hotel fans came back with a vengeance, determined that the guys win our Coolest Newcomer category and that they did! Winning with a whooping 57% of the 15 000+ votes, these German rockers even beat Twilight star Robert Pattison!
Runners Up: Robert Pattison, Demi Lovato.
Song of the Year: “Decode” by Paramore
2008 was a big year for Paramore with the increase in their mainstream success thanks to their catchy single “Misery Business”. So when they released “Decode”, which also features on the Twilight soundtrack, was it really any wonder that it would be such a hit as well? Competition was fierce between first and second place in our Song of the Year category, but in the end “Decode” won with 25% of the 12 000+ votes!
Runners Up: “Lovebug” by The Jonas Brothers, “So What” by Pink.
Album of the Year: Scream by Tokio Hotel
2008 rocketed Tokio Hotel into stardom. These German rockers had fans screaming all around the world and were certainly a Portrait fave when they took out the number two spot in our annual Top 30 Under 30 Poll in 2008. So really it’s no surprise that these guys won over 50% of the 12 000+ votes in our Album of the Year category.
Runners Up: A Little Bit Longer by The Jonas Brothers, Underdog Alma Mater by Forever the Sickest Kids .
Hottest Siblings or BFF Duo: Bill & Tom Kaulitz
Once again beating out the second place Jonas Brothers, Bill and Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel have taken out yet another category in this year’s Portrait Choice Awards. These crazy haired German rocker twin brothers won with 59% of the 13 000+ votes!
Runners Up: The Jonas Brothers, Alex Gaskarth & Jack Barakat.
Book of the Year: Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer
Considering 2008 was the year of Twilight mania, is it really any surprise that Breaking Dawn has won our Book of the Year category with a whopping 71% of the 5000+ votes? The final instalment of the Twilight saga did not fail to disappoint either – breaths were held in anticipation to the twists and turns of Edward and Bella’s story right until the very end.
Runners Up: The Last Summer by Ann Brashares, Airhead by Meg Cabot.
Coolest YouTube Channel: Tokio Hotel Channel
Yet another category in our first annual Portrait Choice Awards taken out by Tokio Hotel! The guys have won our Coolest YouTube Channel category with a crazy 65% of the 11 800+ votes! With all the Tokio Hotel goodness this channel holds, it is certainly an award well won!
Runners Up: Jonas Brothers Official, Miley and Mandy.
Fansite of the Year: Loveth-Music.Com
Tokio Hotel fans were certainly on a rampage! Fansite of the Year makes this the 5th Tokio Hotel related award the guys have won in our first annual Portrait Choice Awards, and also means that they have won half the categories for 2008! With the amount of time and dedication that surely must have gone into the production and maintenance of this informative and detailed site, it’s not hard to see that is an award well-deserved!
