Rachel McAdams
America's new Sweetheart
Written by Kat
Rising star Rachel McAdams has been winning hearts and numerous awards since her breakthrough roll as the catty 'plastic' in 2004's blockbuster teen film 'Mean Girls'.
Since Mean Girls she's starred in the romance 'The Notebook', an adaption of hit author Nicholas Spark's (A Walk to Remember, Message in a bottle) best selling novel of the same name, the hit comedy 'Wedding Crashers' with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn', the tense thriller 'Red Eye' and now the family dramedy 'The Family Stone'. It seems clear the only thing outshining Rachel's talent and likeability is her determination not to be stereotyped into one film genre.

Rachel with the cast of 'The Family Stone'
'The Family Stone' opens December 16th in the US and with the tagline 'Feel the Love' promises to be a fun family dramedy. In 'The Family Stone' Rachel plays Amy Stone whose older brother Ben Stone (Luke Wilson) has just brought home his fiance Meredith Morton (Sarah Jessica Parker) for the holidays. The Stones family instantly take a disliking to Meredith and what proceeds is a tense Christmas holiday.
In this article Portrait Magazine breaks down Rachel's success, her fanbase's opinions of her and various facts you may not know.
Fanbase:
We interviewed a couple of Rachel fans who have invested time and talent into running a fansite for the rising star. Here's what they said:
"I think Rachel is not only a uniquely beautiful women, but also an amazingly talented and versatile actress, definatley one of the prime actresses of her generation and I wanted to create a site on her to promote her talent, meet other fans, as well as have a little fun." - Erin of Rachel Mcadams Central
"I love Rachel because I think she is a talented actress. Not only is she stunning to look at she is a great versitile actress. In my personal opinion I think she is following in the lines of the amazing Kirsten Dunst. All of her roles are different and she seems like such a down to earth and sweet person. I have never seen an interview, picture, or event of her not smiling and laughing. She never seems like she is not happy to be there and that is such a rariety in the hollywood industry. I think she is a great role model for young girls because she is proving you don't have to do thesex scenes or be the cookie-cutter teen queen to be successful. I think she is going to be a huge star but who will remain down to earth and humble. That is why I have fallen under her spell."
- Mycah of Rachel McAdams Fan
What especially draws me to Rachel as a fan, is that she wholy devotes herself
to her role as an actress. She has such an extraordinary ability to range in
character from a coniving high school-princess to a southern sweetheart.
Despite her rapid success from success films such as Mean Girls and The
Notebook, Rachel still manages to be grounded and humble. She doesn't mix her
job with her life. She's amazing. - Stephanie of McAdamsOnline.com
