By Ang Lee After a long Summer with many spoilers and teaser promos floating about, it’s finally September and our favourite shows have returned! With so much TV goss happening over hiatus, it’s hard to keep track! Lucky for you, we’re here to recap what’s happened and reveal what’s to come. TV season 2010-2011, here we come! WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS SO PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
The Vampire Diaries
Where We Left Off: A historical device used to sus out vampires was used to trap them during the town festivities, so Damon and Stefan had quickly escape before they were caught out! Sadly Jeremy’s vampire love Anna, wasn’t so lucky, and once Jeremy found out, he questioned whether the life he was living was really one he wanted. Here’s an interesting point too by the way – if the device was used to trap vampires, why did it attract Mayor Lockwood and Tyler? Tyler was driving away with Matt and Caroline when the device went off and swerved off the road. Caroline collapsed at the accident site – will she be okay? Other occurrences in the conclusion to this jammed pack first season - Damon kissed Elena or did he? Katherine’s back and with a vengeance! Her first destructive deed? Slicing and dicing Elena’s uncle Jonathan’s fingers off and stabbing him! She sure doesn’t waste any time does she?
What Happens Next: If you thought season one was awesome, wait til you check out season two! After so many years pining over his lost love, Damon’s finally got Katherine back in his life, but how’s he going to react when he finds out that it was his brother Stefan she came back for, and not him! And how is she going to react when Stefan rejects her? Adding to the brotherly tension, how will Stefan react when Damon reveals his kissed ‘Elena’?
The tension between Katherine and the Salvatore brothers won’t be the only Katherine drama happening in Mystic Falls this season, there’ll be a Katherine and Bonnie showdown too! Aside from Katherine, other new players in Mystic Falls this season include Vanessa, a grad student at Duke who helps Damon, Alaric and Elena with some of Isobel’s old research, and Tyler’s uncle Mason, who is the younger brother of Mayor Lockwood. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s questions to be answered in the season two premiere like will Jonathan, Jeremy and Caroline all survive their predicaments?
The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Promo:
Returns: September 13 Where We Left Off: Liam dumped Naomi after finding out that she had made the whole Mr Cannon incident up. But the tables turned when the season closed with Mr Cannon actually making a move on her! Naomi’s evil sister Jen also returned to town pregnant and determined to ruin Naomi’s life. Liam and Annie grew closer and she confessed to him her involvement with the hit and run incident. Annie’s unstable ex Jasper was spying on them and set fire to the boat Liam had just built. Liam found out and beat Jasper up. There were make ups and break ups amongst the gang with Debbie and Harry’s marriage is over and Navid and Adrianna finally got back together. Ade’s singing partner Javier – who she was also dating before she reunited with Navid - offered her to tour with him over the Summer. Ivy and Dixon were still together, as are Silver and Teddy. What Happens Next: It’s Senior year and drama-rama in the hills! An earthquake hits in the first episode and someone’s going to die! Liam and Annie are together, but it won’t be all rainbows and butterflies. Liam’s half brother comes to town, and we hear he may complicate things between this new couple! We also wonder how Naomi’s going to take the news of Annie dating yet another one of her former boyfriends? Poor Naomi, things suck for her right now, with that and the return of her crazy sister! Plus how will she cope with the Mr Cannon situation? He’s still on the scene and making Naomi’s life even more complicated as adviser to one of Naomi’s best friends, Silver. You may have already heard the rumours that a male character will question his sexuality and that character is Teddy. Kyle Riabko will come onto the show and have a part in that, but don’t expect Teddy’s coming out of the closet to happen quickly. Writers are going to take their time to make sure the storyline plays out naturally. Another newbie character is a British male character who’s a childhood friend of Ivy’s. Other guest stars in the new season include Adrian Grenier from Entourage – his band Honey Brothers play at Naomi’s big 18th birthday bash.
90210 Season 3 Promo:
Returns: September 13 Where We Left Off: Thinking Blair didn’t love him anymore, in a moment of weakness Chuck slept with Jenny, only to have Blair show up on his doorstep afterwards. The pair briefly reunited and Chuck was about to propose when Dan showed up to reveal the truth. A shattered Blair banished Jenny from NY and told Chuck it was over for good. Nate and Serena also split. Fast forward a week later and Georgina’s not just back in town, but also pregnant and Dan’s the father! Serena and Blair are planning on heading to Paris for the Summer together, while Nate has taken a leaf out of Chuck’s book and decided to distract himself with ladies and booze. Jenny leaves NY to go and stay with her mother in Hudson. Last but not least, Chuck is wandering the dark streets of Prague when he’s mugged. He refuses to give them Blair’s ring and the muggers shoot him and steal the ring anyway, leaving Chuck for dead in some sleazy alleyway! What Happens Next: It’s a summer of fun, fashion and boys in Paris for Blair and Serena! But what happens when Chuck and Blair cross paths and she meets his new girlfriend Eva? If those longing looks between Chuck and Blair in the season four promos are anything to go by, there’s still a chance for them! By the way, yes it looks like Chuck survives his Prague shooting! Georgina’s still on the scene but is Dan really the father of her baby? Colour us sceptical! And how does Dan’s girlfriend Vanessa react to this news? Jenny may be MIA, but she will be back eventually in what’s sure to be a dramatic return sometime in the first half of the season! And what’s Gossip Girl without a few new faces? Sam Page, who you may recognize from Greek and Desperate Housewives plays a new love interest for Serena. Katie Cassidy will play Juliet Sharp, who’s a new love interest for Nate. Word has it that she and Blair may not see eye to eye either! We’re glad to hear Queen B Blair is back! We missed her last season!
Gossip Girl Season 4 Promo:
Returns: September 14 Where We Left Off: Julian’s movie was a hit and he and Brooke got engaged. Mia dumped Chase, and he and Alex got close, but then Mia returned to Tree Hill after realising she made a mistake ending her relationship with Chase. Haley announced that she was pregnant and just when we thought it was going to be happy endings all around, Clay and Quinn were shot by a crazy Katie, who had broken into their home! What Happens Next: Will Clay and Quinn survive? And if they do, will there be consequences from the shooting? We can’t wait to see how Haley’s pregnancy pans out! Especially now with the rumours that her portrayer Bethany Joy Galeotti is also pregnant! Speaking of Haley, she and Mia head over to Portland to perform at a music festival for a One Tree Hill and Life UneXpected crossover episode in October. Word has it Haley and Cate will bond over being young mothers. We’re not sure what Victoria and Millicent get up to, but they’ll do something that puts Clothes over Bros in danger. For the moment One Tree Hill has only been picked up for 12 episodes, so whether the show goes beyond those 12 episodes, time will tell.
One Tree Hill Season 8 Promo:
Returns: September 14 Where We Left Off: Cate and Baze officially adopted Lux. Baze realised that he was in love with Cate and after much debate, decided to go and stop Ryan and Cate’s wedding. But it was too late, Ryan and Cate are officially married. What Happens Next: Season one may have been all about the Baze/Cate/Ryan love triangle, but don’t expect Baze to be in the picture anymore. Instead Cate and Ryan will have to adjust to married life and working together, and things will get a little awkward, when Cate is replaced on her and Ryan’s morning radio show! Ouch! There’ll be some new faces in Portland, like Arielle Kebbel (Gilmore Girls, John Tucker Must Die), who will play Paige, the new girl in town who starts working at Baze’s bar. Do we detect potential love interest? Amy Price-Francis (24) will play Kelly, a conservative author who becomes involved with Cate and Ryan’s show. Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place) is the latest young hot teacher on TV, he plays Eric, a new teacher at Lux’s school and may be a potential crush for Lux. Other new characters include, Emma a powerful business woman who works with Baze’s dad, and Paige, Ryan’s free spirited younger sister. And let’s not forget about the One Tree Hill and Life UneXpected crossover episode!
Life UneXpected Season 2 Promo:
Returns: September 20 Where We Left Off: The Nerd Herd was no more when the Buy More blew up and Jeff and Lester thought they were responsible! (They weren’t, just for the record). Ellie found out Chuck’s secret. Their father was killed, but then in the season’s closing moments, Chuck came face to face with their mother who abandoned them many years ago! Casey became acquainted with the daughter he never knew. What Happens Next: Guest stars galore! First up, Linda Hamilton from the Terminator will be playing Mama Bartowski! Nicole Richie returns as Sarah’s nemesis and the Incredible Hulk aka Lou Ferrigno will also guest star. Now that the Buy More is an official CIA establishment, each episode will have a new spy. Lined up so far to play the roles of the evolving ‘Greta’ undercover agent are Isaiah Mustafa, Olivia Munn and Stacy Kiebler. Sarah and Chuck are still going strong and Elle and Awesome may be starting their own family! Casey and his daughter continue to bond and it looks like Alex may have picked up some of daddy’s spy skills! Morgan continues his little spy aid on missions and we hear the Jeffster is taking a leaf out of Glee’s book and going Gaga!
Chuck Season 4 Promo:

Where We Left Off: New Directions lost at Regionals and faced up to the fact that Glee club was over until Sue had a change of heart and convinced Principal Figgins to give them another year at the last minute. Rachel and Finn were on again, Puck admitted to Quinn that he loved her after she gave birth to their baby girl. Baby Beth was put up for adoption but in a twist of events unknownst to them, Rachel’s biological mother Shelby adopted her. Will told Emma he loved her, but she had already moved on and was dating her dentist!
What Happens Next: It’s spoilers galore for Glee! There’s going to be a Britney Spears episode! We can’t wait to see Rachel in Baby One More Time and a Britney/Brittany face off in Me Against the Music! Rachel and Finn are still a couple, but Artie and Tina are dunzo after he’s treated her poorly one too many times and she falls in love with the Other Asian, aka Mike Chang!
Not only will there be new loves, but a bunch of new faces in Lima, Ohio, from the new moving in on Finn’s turf - Chord Overstreet, to John Stamos as Emma’s dentist boyfriend Carl. Not completely official, are the talks of many famous guest stars like Carol Burnett (from the The Brady Bunch) as Sue Sylvester’s mother, Susan Boyle, and Javier Bardem. Also not completely official, but writers and producers have said they’d love to bring back the following characters – Suzy Pepper, Jesse St James, Bryan Ryan, Shelby, April Rhodes.
Other tibits for the season – more Brittany and Santana, a love interest for Kurt, we see a side of Mercedes outside of Glee club when she takes Kurt to her church, the gang will have to rise from the bottom again when they’re dubbed losers at school for coming third at Regionals. Adam Shankman will direct an episode, and there are rumours of Prince, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Rocky Horror Show numbers!
Glee Season 2 Promo:
Returns: September 23 Where We Left Off: Sheldon met Amy, the female version of him! A drunk Penny slept with Leonard, but broke his heart because he thought it meant they were back together. What Happens Next: Sheldon’s arch enemy Wil Wheaton will be back, as will Howard’s former lady love Bernadette! Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will make an appearance on the show. Sheldon finds love with Amy, played by Mayim Bialik, so it’ll be interesting to see what Sheldon’s like when he’s dating! Meanwhile, Leonard and Penny will go back to being friends. And we’re still holding out that poor Raj can overcome his fear of talking to women and find a lady love!
The Big Bang Theory Season 4 Promo:
Returns: September 24 Where We Left Off: The Apocalypse happened but Dean, Sam and Castiel managed to find a way to send Lucifer back to hell and stop the Appocalypse but at the expense of Sam’s life. Before Sam sacrificed himself, he made Dean promise that if anything happened to him that Dean wouldn’t try and bring him back and would go on and live a normal life. After the Apocalypse, Dean went to his former girlfriend Lisa. What Happens Next: Season six has been described as going back to its old school roots except the the brothers’ roles are reversed. Dean’s now the one with the settled life and Sam’s the one bringing him back into the demon hunting game. Dean has been playing happy family with Lisa and her son Ben, and retired from his old life. That is until Sam shows up, having escaped from Hell. It’s not too long before the boys fall into old habits and are back on the road, but the problem is you can never go back to the way it was. The brothers’ relationship has changed, especially when Dean finds out that Sam has actually been back for a year but didn’t let him know until now. On the bright side, Castiel will be back to join in on the fun and there’ll be more interesting mythology. Also back, is the boys’ mother, also a demon hunter! We’ll also meet Sam and Dean’s grandfather Campbell, who is also a hunter.
Supernatural Season 6 Promo:
Returns: September 24 Where We Left Off: There was an epic showdown between Zod and Clark and Clark sacrificing himself to save the planet. Chloe and Ollie said I love you and then he went off the grid! Tess died. Lois was offered a job by Perry White and so Clark pushed her way so she wouldn’t stay behind for him. The relationship between Clois twists again when it seems like she’s discovered his secret! What Happens Next: After ten years and it’s the final season of Smallville! Carrying on from the end of season nine, Tess lives and Oliver’s searching for Chloe after she went searching for him. This mission will call on some members of the Suicide Squad. Despite Clark getting a new partner – Cat Grant, at the Daily Planet, Clois fans will be happy with where the relationship is at, especially since Lois knows Clark’s secret. New villains include Darkseid and Lionel Luthor will be back! Also making appearance through season ten, will be Kara aka Supergirl, Jonathan Kent, Brainiac and Hawkman. The door for Lana and Lex to return open, while on the flipside, Chloe leaves the show. How the show will end after ten years and whether fans will be satisfied, we’ll have to wait and see!
Smallville Season 10 Promo:
Friday Night Lights
Where We Left Off: After leaving town to cope with his father’s death, Matt returned to Dillon to make amends with Julie. He asked her to come back with him to Chicago, but they both realised they needed to be apart for awhile so Julie could explore life. Instead, Landry went with him and it was perfect distraction for Landry, who had just had his heart broken by Jess because she and Vince got back together, leaving Landry in the lurch. Billy and Tim’s car stripping scheme was discovered, but rather than the Riggins brothers going to jail, Tim stepped up to the plate and took the fall for the whole racquet so Billy could stay around and spare his new family the dramas of him in jail.
What Happens Next: This is the show’s final season, so no doubt it will go out on a high with some of the best produced television we’ve ever seen. Some of our former Dillon residents will come back to town for the show’s swan song. Adrianne Palicki will return as Tyra, and word has it that she and Tim will take a trip down memory lane when she returns to town and Riggins is released from prison. Scott Porter, who played Jason Street, will be back as a married man and a full-fledged sports agent! Zach Gilford, who played Matt will return for a few episodes and Jesse Plemmons, who played Landry will be back for the series finale.
It won’t be all old faces coming to town, there will be some new ones, like when Julie goes off to college becomes a mistress! Buddy’s son Buddy Jr, comes back to Dillon after leaving California where he’s been living with his mother. Don’t expect him to be a nice guy like his father, Buddy Jr will resent leaving California and let’s just say his temper is going to land him into trouble! Other new face is the Lions new wide receiver, Hastings Ruckle, who is going to be popular with the ladies.
