Say What: Alice In Wonderland

In 'Say What', we assemble some of our favorite quotes from films, televisions, celebs, and historical figures.

Releasing this month is the new Alice In Wonderland movie directed by Tim Burton. To celebrate this 145 year old tale of a young girl named Alice who falls down a hole into a fantasy world, we'll be featuring quotes said by Alice from the various adaptions of this story.

"I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!"

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

"Well, when I was lost, I suppose it's good advice to stay where you are until someone finds you. But who'd ever think to look for me here?"

"But then, shall I never get any older than I am now? That'll be a comfort, one way -- never to be an old woman -- but then -- always to have lessons to learn!"

"A cat may look at a king. I've read that in some book, but I don't remember where."

"I think I should understand that better, if I had it written down: but I can't quite follow it as you say it."

"It was much pleasanter at home, when one wasn't always growing larger and smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits."

"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin; but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever say in my life!"

"Curiouser and curiouser."

"Good advice. If I listened earlier, I wouldn't be here. But that's just the trouble with me. I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it."

"Better read it first, for if one drinks much from a bottle marked "Poison", it's almost certain to disagree with one sooner or later."

"In my world, the books would be nothing but pictures."

"Curiosity often leads to trouble."

"When I get home I shall write a book about this place... If I ever do get home."

"When I used to read about fairy tales, I never thought I would end up in the middle of one. There ought to be a story written about me. Perhaps one day, when I've grown up, I'll write one..."

"Perhaps I fell right through the earth, then - came out the other side. Yet, I'll have to ask somebody the name of the country. 'Please, ma'am, is this New Zealand or Australia?'"
