It's the the teenage girl movie event of the year. Ann Brashers beloved novel is coming to the big screen!

In 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' four lifetime best friends set out on different adventures over their first summer apart. Before parting they discover a pair of magical jeans which fits each girl perfectly dispite their different heights and weights. They decide these pants must be magical and agree to share them over the summer. The plot may sound a little weird but the film is fantastic.

Star Amber Tamblyn is aware of how the film may seem to some audiences "This movie will be a shocker for most people. They're going to expect something fluffy and sweet. A teeny-bopper film. People might even make fun of this film before they see it, which is fine. I just give them a nice smirk and say, "Go see it and talk to me afterward." It's about issues of life and death. It's not fluff."

Alexis Bledel

There's Lena, played by Gilmore Girl and April Portrait Cover girl Alexis Bledel, who spends the summer in Greece with her grandparents, there she meets Kostos.

" My character is pretty, but doesn't see herself that way. She's extremely shy and has a very active inner life. Her life is also sort of a mess and she really doesn't know how to behave. I think a lot of girls can relate." Says Alexis Bledel of her character

Amber Tamblyn

Then there's Tibby, played by Joan of Arcadia herself Amber Tamblyn, she's staying home for the summer and plans to film a movie about the seeminly boring people who work at her walmart. But a change of plans comes in the form of a young girl name Bailey.

22-year-old Amber Tamblyn rose to fame starring as the precocious Joan in Joan of Arcadia a series about a teenage girl who talks to God. Joan of Arcadia was cancelled in this years Fall Line ups so Amber will be pursuing a further career in film.

Blake Lively

There's Bridget, played by newcomer Blake Lively, who pursues her athletic love of soccer at a camp in Mexico and falls for her coach Eric

16-year-old Blake Lively makes her acting debut in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She comes from an acting family.

America Ferrera

Then there's Carmen, played by 'Real women have curves' star America Ferrera, who goes to visit her Dad over the summer and to her horror discovers he's engaged to a perfect stranger with two teenage kids.

20-year-old America has appeared in various films since her debut in 2002's Real Women have Curves. Her credits include the Disney Channel movie 'Gotta Kick it up', '$5.15/Hr.', and 'Plain Song'. She'll next be seen in 'Lords of Dogtown' and 'Steel City', in the meantime she's a full time student at USC studying international relations.

of their names

The bond between the four friends is the central element of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants novel and according to Amber Tamblyn that same friendship existed between the girls while filming the movie "We became incredibly good friends when we were up there (Vancouver, where they filmed most of the movie). Really, really close friends, fast, which is interesting because that's what it needed for the movie but it just happened to be that it worked that way. Usually, you get girls with like minds and it just happens, I guess."

"We had an amazing time on set," says America "It wasn't about who has the most scenes, who is the star of the movie. We were so respectful and it was cool to see everyone be successful. We were happy for each other, and proud of each other. It was a great, all-girl group experience."
