Written by: Katy (Age 22, England) At this time of year, we start to see all the big action adventures hitting our screens. And this years isn't any different. This summer we have remakes, reinventions, sequels and video game movie (which arn't always a success). I am going to choose some of my favourite, which I think your going to love, have a good laugh at, and if anything gets your going, you never know a good cry! Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is our video game movie. Past video game movies such as Tomb Raider and Max Payne haven't exactly done anything special, while a film based on the game Halo, has had lots of trouble getting made. ![]() However, POP (what a great short name!), has something good going for it, in the face that Disney are at the helm. Disney managed to get Pirates Of The Carribean, a fantastic hit and entertaining film, out of a theme park ride. It also has Mike Newell as director, who helmed Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire, one of the best in the series. ![]() The film borrows from lot of the games, which were first released in 2003. The story follow Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), a street urchin in Persia, who is adopted by the king to be his heir, so that the king's 2 songs will not fight over the throne. Along with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton), he goes on a quest to rescue the Sands Of Time, a gift from the gods which has the ability to control time, from the villainous Nizam. The film is out on May 28th (US Release Date), and is rated PG-13. Find out more at the offical website, and check out the trailer below. Robin Hood Robin Hood is our reinvention movie. The story of Robin Hood, is one that has been done on film and TV many times before, most recently in the BBC TV series of the same name. However, this years movie version take a new look at Robin Hood's later years (and most notably is not played by a fox!). ![]() The film admitidly, has not had the greatest start. There were script re-writes, title changes, cast changes, and most notably, a delay in the filming, which was originally scheduled in 2008. However, the trailer is very promising. ![]() The story starts with Robin (Russell Crowe), returning to his home town after fighting in the Third Crusade. After finding out about what the new Sheriff of Nottingham has been getting up to, Robin, with the help of his ever faithfull merry men, fight to take back what is rightfully own to his people, and for justice. And a film is never without a bit of romance, with Robin trying to win the affectioned of the widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett). The film is out on May 14th (US/UK Release Date), and is rated PG-13. Find out more at the offical website, and check out the trailer below. The A-Team The A-Team is our remake movie. The A-Team started out as a TV show in 1983, and like a lot of other TV shows, it now has a movie version. Other TV shows such as Charlie's Angels and Sex And The City, have done well as movies too, so it has a lot going for it. ![]() The film has been in development since the 1990's but its not till now that it found all the right components. With the original creators of the show producing the movie, and a really stellar cast, it might be one of the biggest hits. The film also has it's connection with Robin Hood, as producer Ridley Scott, also directs Robin Hood. Like the previous films, The A-Team movie doesn't stray far from the original story of the show. The story follows 4 US soliders (Liam Neeson/Bradley Cooper/Quinton Jackson/Sharlto Copley), who are all arrested for crimes they did not commit. After escaping prison, they are join forces to fight for fortune. One of the only major shifts is from Vietnam to the Middle East, as the film is now set now. ![]() The film is out on June 11th (US Release Date), and has not yet been rated. Find out more at the offical website, and check out the trailer below. Toy Story 3 Toy Story 3 is our sequel (should that be threequel!) movie. If you haven't heard about Toy Story by now, then where have you been. Toy Story was one of the first major movie to come from the Pixar Animation Studios. After it's release in 1995, and grossed $361,958,736 worldwide. The second in the series, Toy Story 2, although orginally meant to be a straight to video sequel, was released to the big screens in 1999, and out made the previous movie, with a total of $485,015,179 gross worldwide. ![]() The film has an amazing amount of luck going for it, coming from an animation studio that has won 24 Oscars. There films have become so amazing, that there last feature, Up, was actually nominated for the Best Picture award, becoming the first fully animated movie to do so. ![]() The plot follow on from the previous films, with Andy heading off to College. Andy decides to keep his treasured Woody (Tom Hanks), while all of his other toys are fated for the attic. Jessie (Joan Cusack), convinces the band of toys to head on over to the Sunnyside Daycare Center, to be played with. After the toys discover Andy is searching for them, they try to make it back home, much to the annoyance of the toys already housed at the center. To make matters worse, Buzz Lightyear get damaged, and ends up reverting to a delusional Spanish language version of his old self. The film is out on June 16/18th (US Release Date), and has not yet been rated. Find out more at the offical website, and check out the trailer below.
