Upcoming Stars Spotlight
By Eleni and Kiwi

Have you ever wondered how bands got started? Ever wondered how they got famous so quickly?

Well it all starts when they start promoting their music. Promotion is the one of key aspects of marketing. It involves getting a product known and creating a want for it. That’s what artists do. The first step is creating their music. But what’s music when no-one appreciates it? One of the main objectives of an artist is to get their music known by the public and eventually loved by the public.

And how do they do that? They do it by using promotion techniques and strategies, such as radio stations, myspace, magazines, free concerts etc.

That’s what we do. Eleni and Kiwi, otherwise known as Epol Promotions. We have set up a myspace that provides a free service to artists. We do graphics such as banners, layouts, we make press kits, we organize street teams, we contact magazines and radio stations; we do anything and everything to help artists get known.

You can check out our myspace here, http://www.myspace.com/epolpromotions

Now in this section of the magazine, we’re going to be introducing to you two artists who we feel deserve to be recognized. There will be Eleni’s pick and Kiwi’s pick, in which we will try to introduce you to the band and give you reasons to listen to their music.

Eleni’s pick

Ballet Imperial

I’m totally digging the alternative, pop-rock sound lately and Ballet Imperial are just that perfect mix! You probably know two of the band members, Jamie and Angus, who are actors and play Nate and Lewis in the well know Nickelodeon series, H20! Together with Will and Jeff [the director for H20], they have formed an amazing new band which frankly can’t be classified as one specific genre! Their tunes are addictive and you’ll soon be singing along! Definitely a band to check out! They also just posted their first video which has footage from gigs and backstage access so be sure to check that out too!

Convinced? Go check out their myspace and leave them a comment! http://www.myspace.com/balletimperial

Kiwi’s pick

Prevalence

This month, I'm loving Prevalence. This Boston based rock group has amazing feel good beats that are perfect to rock out to on a Friday night. Their ska-like cover of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" is a perfect modern take on a classic 80's hit. If you're a fan of Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, or Less Than Jake, you'll love Prevalence.
