Beauty 101: Just like Jane

If you don't want to take makeup to new levels as a dancing queen this spring, you might want to consider a more subtle, romantic look. Think of the Bennet sister's in the Jane Austen novel «Pride and Prejudice» or of Jane Austen herself as portrayed by Anne Hathaway in the flick «Becoming Jane». The keyword is simplicity...!

Okay, so the look is really easy to make:

  • Start with hiding zits and other imperfections with a concealer, make sure to daub it out nicely.
  • Add a rather thin layer of powder in a pale shade, but make sure it mixes well with your skintone, having a pale face cut of at the neck looks just as stupid as a bronzed face ending at the neck!
  • Apply only one eyeshadow this time, a pale color, like a powder pink or something more silvery, it all depends on your eye and skincolor, anyway the clue is to use a subtle color! Apply the shadow you've chosen lightly on your lid, don't smear on thick layers all the way to your browline.
  • If you want to use blush, go for a peach colored cream blush and daub it carefully on the apple of your cheek.
  • Depending on wether you want to look really, really cute or natural, chose either a delicate pink gloss or a nude lipstick, a hint of transparent gloss is also an option.
