Brittany Snow

Beautiful, blonde and talented, Brittany Anne Snow has come a long way from the bubbly three year old she once was. Born March 9, 1986 in Tampa, Florida, the now twenty-two-year-old started her career as a model when she was just three and a half years old, in a print ad for Burdines. It was her first taste of what it would be like to be in the lime light. She went on to star in various television commercials. Then in 1995 she got her first real acting job as the voice of Shizuku Tsukishima in the English version of the Japanese animated film "Whisper of The Heart". It was four years before Brittany would land the role that would sky rocket her career.

In her first big TV Role in Guiding Light

When she was just twelve years old she was cast as the second actress to play the role of Susan LeMay in the popular soap opera "Guiding Light". She played the role for four years. To this day Brittany appreciates how much getting this role meant to her "My greatest accomplishment is receiving my role on ‘Guiding light’". But the memories are also tainted with sadness. Brittany developed anorexia/bulimia while starring on the show. Her first experience with dieting came when she tried her first one; "Eat right 4 your blood type". "I remember looking around at all these women who were on the soap opera working out and dieting". Things quickly went wrong for the young starlet; "I took it to the extreme". At one point Brittany ate only pineapple for two months.

After receiving compliments on her weight loss it encouraged Brittany to continue to diet. "It kind of progressed into this thing where I needed to always be dieting and losing weight and more weight". At 15 she was stepping on to the scales 10-15 times a day. In between she was still working on movies such as Murphy's Dozen. She weighed only eighty-five pounds at the time. "I knew that was a really low number and I knew that my hair was falling out and I had really weird skin. My face looked really weird and I was getting this fuzz on my face and I was always cold – always to the point of uncontrollably shaking," she says. "But I was more scared that eighty-five pounds wasn't good enough. I wanted to be lower." Things finally came to a head when Brittany overwrought by depression began to cut herself. "I would look at the scars and what I had done to myself and that would convince me not to eat, I also was crying for attention and I also really wanted someone to see my scars and help me and give me a hug."

With American Dreams Co-Star Vanessa Lengies

During this time Brittany had been cast in her biggest role to date as Meg Pryor in the television series "American Dreams" which ran from 2002-2005. She loved her role as it reminded her of her childhood "I grew up doing all that stuff because I was obsessed with the 50's, I had sock hops for birthday parties". But underneath it all her demons were coming to the surface. Finally when Brittany turned nineteen she went into rehab. She stopped cutting and got help for her depression and things began to look a lot brighter. It was a long hard road for her. "The eating stuff was still really hard to deal with, it’s still a struggle".

As Kate in John Tucker Must Die

Brittany has some very wise advice for young girls who have been or are going through the same thing she went through "It's very important to talk to anybody. Maybe the first step is just to talk to a friend about it, they'll probably they'll relate in some way". That very same year Brittany threw herself back into acting.

Brittany as Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray

Her first role back was in The Pacifier with Vin Diesel. Then she appeared in the television series Nip/Tuck for five episodes in a very unusual role as a Neo-Nazi student named Ariel Alderman. It was a very moving performance. In 2006 she starred in the comedy John Tucker Must Die. It failed at the box office but nothing could stop Brittany's rise in the acting industry. In 2007 she appeared as the Corny Collins show queen Amber Von Tussle in the movie version of the Broadway play Hairspray. The movie was a smash hit, winning numerous awards and grossing $27,476,745 in its first weekend of release. It went on to become the highest grossing musical of all time. Brittany was back and

bigger then ever. She also provided vocals for several of the songs on the soundtrack proving that she has many talents.

This year has also been a big year for Brittany. Her new film Prom Night, the horror remake, opened at #1 in the US box office in April. She has filmed several movies; On The Doll, Black Water Transit and Finding Amanda, a yet to be released film in which she co-stars with Matthew Broderick who plays her father. Brittany has plans for her future and acting is in it but its not the only thing she has set her sights on. "I want to go to college and study but I know acting is what I want to do, I also want to someday direct,

produce and be a fashion designer".

Brittany is currently filming the movie The Vicious Kind, a comedy/drama due to be released next year. After everything she has been through Brittany has come out of it all stronger then ever and still doing what she loves acting. She wants people to see her as more then just another pretty face "I have to believe that if I keep doing things that I'm passionate about and do the best I can, people will know me for who I am and not just another Brittany".
