Can you please introduce yourself?
My name is Alana Grace. I am a 19-year-old singer/songwriter/actress.
What got you into music?
I’ve always known I wanted to be a singer so I’m actually not really sure. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t working towards that.
How did you decide which genre to sing in?
When I started writing I just decided to go into that genre...honestly it was kind of chosen for me by my writing!
Who plays the instruments in your songs?
All different people each song was recorded using different players.
Why should people be encouraged to listen to your music?
Well, I’d like to think that my music makes people think about different perspectives on life.
What was your first gig like?
Well I started in musical theatre, but my first gig performing my own music was pretty cool. It was at a fair in Nashville called Riverstages. I think there were only like 8 people there, most of whom were my family, but it was still fun!
How long did it take for you to make it?
Well I still haven’t made it in my mind. There’s still a lot more to come from me so I won’t be able to tell you until it happens!
What are your aims for 2007?
I’m working on a new album so they are all about writing goals. I just want to finish the songs!
Though you’re only young, you are already quite big. Why is that important to you?
Well in this business it’s important to start young. In the pop world you have to make it when you’re young or else you don’t really get the chance!
What are your inspirations when you work?
I have all different inspirations. It’s either from what’s going on in my life or just around me or different colors like purples in the room.
What is your process of song-writing?
I always write the melody first with a song title in mind and then work on lyrics. Melodies are easy to come by whereas words take a while.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I can’t really answer that because so much of my life depends on other people.
Who are your role models and why?
Joni Mitchell is a writing role model because her lyrics are so great. But I guess my parents because they both work really hard and are always optimistic.
If you could work with anyone or any band, who would it be? Well I really want to write with Pat from Train but I’d love to tour with JET. I think they are amazing!

Dating
What do you look for in a guy? I like people that seem honorable and trustworthy. I look for guys that won’t tell all their friend’s secrets on a first date.
Are you single?
I’d prefer not to answer that question.
Best date-
My only experience at a prom was my best date. I went with my boyfriend at the time and right after we got announced we left to go see Death Cab for Cutie in concert. We didn’t even stay for the first dance!
Ideal date-
I personally love dancing so any guy that would take me to eat and then dancing is probably an ideal date for me!
Worst date-
I was invited to a party with this guy and like ten minutes after I got there he said he’d be right back. Well, 45 minutes later I walk outside to find him and he was making out with his ex-girlfriend on the corner. Needless to say I left.
Style
Describe your style-
Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I think I’m really relaxed on most days but I’m not afraid to throw a little drama into an outfit with a splash of color or crazy cuts. I also LOVE jewelry so accessories make the outfit for me!
Favourite outfit-
I have this black dress that I call the Elvira dress because the sleeves are so big but it’s a short dress with big sleeves that I wear with these lacy capree tights and blue paten-leather platforms! so cute!
Fashion disaster-
I’ve been known to wear what my mom calls costumes On a daily basis. I like experimenting with different colors, but wearing all aqua is not a good idea! trust me.
Beauty tips-
I would say to choose your favorite makeup line and get it done by a professional at least once. That way they can teach you how to do your own make up so your face always look it’s best. In my mind you could be wearing a very boring outfit but look amazing if your makeup is right.
Random/Personal
If you were a super hero, who would you be?
I think I’d want to be Spiderman. It would be nice to know that you could protect yourself and other people from harm.
If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
I’d definitely want to be Sailor Moon! I love anime!
Best Holiday Ever-
This past holiday break was amazing! My father took my entire family on a two-week trip to Thailand and Cambodia! It was soooo much fun.
Worst Holiday Ever-
A few years back my uncle died over the winter holidays. So that was definitely the worst possible holiday season I’ve had.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I still haven’t ever been to Tokyo and I really want to go. So that would be where I’d go if I got the chance!
If you could do anything, what would you do?
I would speak five languages fluently. I don’t know why but I’d really love to learn French, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese and then travel around the world to practice. I’m really bad at learning languages though! I’m much better at math!
Hobbies?
I’d say my hobbies are dancing or doing hot yoga! I don’t have many hobbies!
Favourite Sports?
Well I don’t play any sports, but I love watching soccer.
Favourite type of music?
Alternative
Daily routine
Well, I generally get and work out before doing myspace. Then my routine depends on the day. I’ll either have appointments to go to or writing sessions, or I’ll just write by myself. Sometimes I have band rehearsals for shows or even shows themselves so it’s always varying schedule!
Hardest thing to do in your life.
Probably the hardest thing to do in my life is get over rejection.
If you were stuck on a desert island with only three things, what would they be and why?
I’d bring a photo of my family to remind me of where I came from. I’d bring a blanket because I’m always cold, and I’d bring a friend! I wouldn’t want to be there by myself!
What are your concerns for the world?
I’m really worried about the environment right now, but I’m also worried about the spread of disease. In this day and age it seems that disease will kill the human race before the environment gets too hot. I’m also worried about the number of desperately poor people and countries. It seems there are too many issues to even get started in the world today. I think we need to focus on one thing at a time.
Tell me a secret!
Well if I tell you it won’t be a secret anymore!
Favourite quote-
In life we only truly hit what we aim for
Best piece of advice-
Believe that what you want to happen is going to happen. If you believe it with all your heart and picture it everyday in your head, the world will find a way to give it to you.
Do you have a myspace? If yes, what is it?
Yes I do have a myspace. It’s www.myspace.com/alanagrace
How can your fans contact you?
The best way is through myspace because I answer all my comments and messages myself. Or you can visit my website: www.alanagrace.com
