So hello Brittany! How are you today?
Great, how are you?
Good thanks! What got you into acting?
When I was little, I used to perform in the Nutcracker and other theatrical productions on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. One day, when I was seven, I was sitting in my living room watching "The Parent Trap" and thought to myself "I want to be in a Disney movie". It wasn't until I was tennish that I started taking acting classes, and was "discovered"!!!
So what's the auditioning like?
Interesting, fun, challenging. You walk into a room with people you've never met before, late out all your emotions in a scene, and hope for the best. Some casting directors are great at reading lines with you and some are horrible! You could be reading lines for a comedy, but the casting director is reading the lines like there has been a death! But, you still have to be funny. Maybe one of my favorite auditions was when I got to read with Heather Locklear and hug her at the end! Also, I got to read with Greg Grunberg ( the actor from "Heros"). That was a great auditioning process because it was a comedy, Greg was hilarious, and we played off each other really well.
Which role did you really want but you didn't get?
Oh Boy! Let me think! It was a movie, "Tenderness", great character and very deep with some psychological issues, and a cute boy! It was a journey about the two kids traveling across the country in a car. Car scenes are fun! I just did a car scene with Craig Robinson from "The Office". He was my driving instructor and I was his terrified first time driving student! The car was on a big trailer with cameras all hooked up to it, pulling us through the streets of Los Angeles.
Do you plan to continue acting and not go to college?
College, college, college! College is a must. I've actually already started college. I love learning. Still, I plan to ALWAYS continue acting, honestly, I couldn't live without acting!
What are the 3 things you enjoy doing most...apart from acting?
Spending time with my family, dancing (swing , jazz, and hip-hop), and goinig to Disney World.
How long have you been dancing for?
I started when I was six, I took ballet, tap and jazz. My first "gig" was when I played a mouse in the Nutcracker,
hehe cute! So do you want to dance professionally too?
I do it mostly for recreation and fun, but I may use it in a movie. For example, I took figure skating lessons when I was young and I ended up playing a skater in the Disney movie "Go Figure". I got to skate with Kristi Yamaguchi!! Yay! My dancing skills actually came in handy for that. They also came in handy when I did a commercial with Michelle Kwan - one of my childhood heroes, Yippee!
So who are the top people you've met through acting?
Wow, a lot, Henry Winkler( I actually interviewed him), Jennifer Garner( I worked with her in 13 Going on 30, we got to spend time together while filming, and chatted a lot!), John Voight (sp?), Teri Hatcher (spent some time with her at the after party of the "Chicken Little" premiere), Zach Braff (Scrubs), Drake Bell ( played his final girlfriend in "Drake and Josh", I actually just visited him at his house a week ago), Jason Dolley ( we are actually good friends! He plays Newt on "Cory in the House").
What future projects can we expect from you?
I am a recurring guest star on "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody". My character's name is Chelsea, she is London's (Brenda Song) best friend, and Chelsea is rich, innocent and daffy (not the brightest bulb on the tree, but is a pro with boys!). Coming out in the fall is a movie I starred in "The Haunting Hour." It's with Universal Studios and I play Priscilla - the antagonist. In the movie, they actually drop on me six hundred live hissing cockroaches! When you watch the movie, and see me screaming, it's all real, because cockroaches actually went down my dress!! What you won't see is me turning around, tearing off my corset to get the cockroaches out!
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Humorous, persistent, and curious.
If you were a super hero, who would you be?
Fly. I just really want to fly! When I was a little girl, I used to kneel next to my bed, pray to God asking for me to fly, then jump off my bed and try to fly. I actually thought that would work. I would actually count the seconds I was in the air, 123456. I would count that as six seconds of flying. I count really fast because that would give me more flight time... or so I thought. So anyway Wonderwoman!
Have you kept in contact with co-actors?
Yes! Emily Osment and Cody Linley from "The Haunting Hour." We've become best friends. They are really good actors and awesome people. Last week we went to Zuma Beach and were the only people on the beach wearing bathing suits because it was so cold! Today, right after this interview, Emily and I are going to see a movie in Pasadena together. On March eleventh the three of us are doing a charity event with Macy Gray for the benefit of victims of rape. It is very important always reach out and help other people. Oh, I write poetry too. Here's a short one, it's called "The Midnight Critters":
A blank page awaits
As my impatient pen jitters
It has been overtaken
By the midnight critters
Everyone knows these guys
Who live in your head
They always seem to want to come out and play
Once you're almost asleep and in bed
What do you look for in a guy?
Somebody who is funny, has a sense of adventure, doesn't mind acting like dork! heehee. They have to be inquisitive and have a goal in their life. And, a nice abdominal six-pack helps! HaHa I like if they can play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix, move like Robert Plant, and have the soul of Bob Dylan. Am I asking too much?
Describe the craziest thing you've done!
One crazy thing I did was at the world premiere of "How To Eat Fried Worms", in Las Vegas, on the red carpet, I ate two live worms. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. If I think of any more crazy stories I'll send you them.
How do you balance your career and your normal life?
I spend almost all my free time with my family and friends. For example, this summer, my family and I are going to Disney world for three weeks. And I "book out" with my agent and manager and do not film or go on any auditions during that time. Like other kids I spend a lot of time studying. I LOVE music and going to concerts. I'm going to a Who concert this Monday! When I'm on set shooting a movie or a show, a family member is always there, and I always make new friends on set!
What are your hobbies?
In addition to the three things I mentioned, I like writing poetry, learning to play guitar, singing, and playing with my new bunny, Petite Amie - which means "Little Friend" in French. Oh ya, and I'm learning French!
