So your starring in Disney Channel’s Zeke and Luther as Kojo, can you tell us a bit about the show?
The show Zeke and Luther is a crazy super action comedy about these two best friends who are trying to be the best skateboarders in the world and it’s just basically about their adventures and the pitfalls they run into and how they continue to maintain their friendship no matter what’s going on, even with Kojo being a big thorn in their side. That’s the role I play, I’m the guy that not really tries to ruin things, but really has a weird attitude and outlook on the world which causes him to kind of pray for their downfalls. It’s really bad news. Kojo’s the kind of guy who mixed up in his action sometimes, seems not to be not the very best.

So Kojo’s a bit of a bad boy then.
Yeah, he’s a bit of a bad boy, just a little.

Do you have anything in common with Kojo?
The only thing that I can say I have in common with is the fact that he loves the ladies, I love the ladies. But Kojo is not someone I would like to compare myself to, because Kojo; I don’t know if he has these inner, personal problems that causes his to act this way or what, and I feel I am a pretty confident guy but Kojo probably has some things on the inside which causes him to act a certain way on the outside.

So what was your biggest challenge with the character Kojo?
The biggest challenge for me playing Kojo, I don’t know Kojo really is a fun character for me to play because he is so different from me. I’d say one of the biggest challenges playing Kojo would be trying to maintain that balance being friends with Zeke and Luther and being enemies with them. They’re frenemies; we always go to different skate competitions together or even skate around together just because we’re bonding with the fact that we are skateboarders. And Zeke and Luther are really Kojo’s best friends, since no one would put up with his drama and stuff like that. So that’s one thing, being frenemies with Zeke and Luther.

Yeah. So in one way you have to be sort of mean to them and the other way you have to stay friends, otherwise you’ll end up alone.
Yeah, exactly.

Having fun on the Zeke and Luthor set.

So out of all the episodes you have filmed; which is your favorite and why?
You know it’s so funny; it keeps changing whenever new episodes come out. But my favorite, I think is still going to be from first season. It’s called “Crash and Learn,” where Kojo gets framed for a crime he didn’t commit and it was really fun filming this because it had this one scene where Kojo is being interrogated by the police and I guess he cries and it really shows Kojo’s baby side really coming through.

So the one time he is really innocent he actually gets framed for it.
Exactly, the one time that he is innocent.

Do you have any funny or embarrassing stories from set?
From set, I mean the occasional fall or misstep on the skateboard. I mean we don’t fall too much; we have these great stunt coordinators. Jimmy Gorecki is the skating coach and he makes sure we’re safe, and you know they would never let us do anything that would put us in harm’s way. For the most part safe, but I have slipped a couple of times. Whenever it’s raining or something and I’m on a skateboard and I have to get up really quick and hope none of the girls saw me.

So did you have to learn how to skateboard really well for the show?
Well I was already skating before the show; we also have Jimmy Gorecki who teaches us different moves that maybe we need to hone in our skills, but I was always pretty good at skateboarding, I feel I’ve gotten a little bit better from being on the show, but I was already a skater.

So you’re already good, you don’t need any help?
Not really. It’s funny me and Adam skate together all the time, like he’ll come down to Long Beach or I’ll go up to wherever he lives and we’ll just skate around. We just get better with time.

Goofing around with Zeke and Luthor co –stars Hutch Dano and Adam Hicks.

That’s helpful. If you could write an episode for the show, what would happen?
If I could write an episode for the show, we would go to Athens, Greece. That’s what is gonna happen; the boys are going to skate all the way to Athens, Greece. I know we’re going to have to skate through some water, I know it’ll be a little weird, riding skateboards through water…no wait we’ll get on a cruise ship. We’ll skate with the Suite Life on Deck, we’ll skate onto their show and it’s gonna take us all the way to Athens, Greece we’re going to skate off, we’re going go party in Athens and then we’ll come back or we’ll stay in Athens. That’s my episode, that’s the one I wrote.

Nice. I approve.
Yeah me and Adam, who plays Luther, we’ll do like a concert over there because we’re rappers also. So we’ll do a little concert in Athens, Greece and that’ll be the episode.

Can I get to be an extra on this one?
Yes. You can have a big part, do whatever you want to. I’m down.

Yeah, great! You should be a writer for the show then.
Hey, I’m down.

Daniel is a man of many talents.

Well this actually brings me very nicely into my next question. You’re also into music. What got you interested in music originally? Its fun, I’ve been into it since I was a child, my dad use to be a drum captain and he always wanted us to do music and my brother is super musically inclined. He’s like the best bass player in L.A. right now; he’s amazing so I can pick up some stuff from him. Every since I was a kid I was doing music, but what got me into lyricism; I’m a lyricist, I write music for people, actually Bring it On: 5 with Christina Milian just came on ABC I think last night, was the first movie I have ever had writing credits on for a song, so that was really cool. I was always a writer; like in school I loved just doing the essays and since I was already into music like playing instruments, I was like let me just start writing lyrics that I could rap over music and I just really got into and I’ve just been writing forever now. It’s funny meeting Adam Hicks, because he’s a really great lyricist. He also just came onto my YouTube channel like a week ago or two ago; it’s going really good.

Oh wow, that sounds amazing. Congratulations for your first credit.
Thank you.

Do you prefer writing music or performing music?
Oh, it’s so crazy, that’s a weird question because I love it both so much. I’m such a performer, I just love expressing myself on stage, but I also love expressing myself through writing. I write songs for other people, ghost writing, like some people are better performers than they are writers so I write for them. I’ll write country music, rock music, R&B or hip-hop or whoever, whoever the artist is and it’s always great because I love to see how people will express my words and my lyrics themselves, but performing is so awesome. So I’m going to have to go with, no, I’m going to scratch it and say writing because you can always write, but if I get my legs broken today, I wouldn’t be able to perform. So I’d say I enjoy writing most.

So are you going to focus on a music career, an acting career or a little bit of both?
It’s funny, the music has always been my love and I’m going to definitely stay with the music forever. Acting, you know, any number of things can go on where I might not be in the position to act for too long, so I’m always going to be doing the music for sure and I’d love to continue with acting, but acting is like iffy, you never know what’s going to happen or come from it. So the music I’m definitely going to be into and the acting, I’m hopefully going to be into and maybe I’ll be acting as a rapper or singer in some new movie or something like that to make so that I can do both.

That would be a pretty good combination. So can we look out for an album or something?
You know what, it’s weird. With the album I’m just waiting for the perfect time to drop, because I want my fans to just be completely in awe. Right now I could drop an album and it would be awesome, people would love it, but I want people to just be like “Oh My Goodness”, I want people to just be in crazy in awe. I’m kind of also waiting for, I use to play this other character on Ned’s Declassified and I played Cookie he was short and fat, and I used to be short and fat and I’m trying to let that to blow over. Because even on the YouTube channel, people love the music, but I get a whole bunch of people like “Oh my gosh, Cookie, I love you” so it’s like wait listen to the music, don’t just tell me you love me for being Cookie. So I want to let that blow over so that people don’t too much remember that, then drop it.

Aww! Check out Daniel from his Ned’s Declassified days!

So now I’m going to ask you some random questions to help fans get to know you better. What food can you not live without?
It’s funny; I’m on this new diet where I don’t try to eat for the taste, so all I’m eating three times a day is lentils and rice, so I’m going to have to say lentils and rice.

Well that doesn’t sound very exciting.
I never thought I’d be a vegetarian.

Did you do it by choice or as a part of the diet?
Well, the diet, but it’s by choice. It’s not much of a diet, but more so for my health. I’m just trying to eat very healthy, it’s not so much about the animals, of course I love animals, but it’s just about health.

Gosh, that is crazy healthy. Which song has been playing on repeat recently?
It wouldn’t sound good if I said one of my songs, so this is going to be weird, but Britney Spears’ “Womanizer.” Honestly I’ve been in the car; you can ask Adam Hicks, what CD I played for him yesterday. I played him the whole Britney Spears CD.

Confessions.
The beats on there are awesome, so I’ll just flow, like rap over her lyrics to the song, it’s really good.

Wow, I would’ve never thought about doing that I must confess. What is your favorite video game?
I’m not much of a video game player, but I think I’d have to say “Call of Duty.”

Yes! You’re my kind of person.
It’s crazy I made a YouTube video about “Call of Duty,” what, two days ago.

I seriously have to go on your YouTube Channel. What’s your secret addiction?
If I said girls, that wouldn’t be much of a secret. My secret addiction…Demi Lovato has this song “Did You Forget” I think. I love that song.

Yeah, “Did You Forget” I’m sorry, but that’s better than “Womanizer.” I think “Womanizer” should be your secret addiction.
Well with Britney, at least if I say I love Britney people will say yeah, okay she’s been around for awhile so that’s fine I guess, they’ll understand but Demi is the new kid on the block. Actually that’s kind of not a secret, but I’m still going to stick with Demi Lovato “Did You Forget.”

Daniel out and about at an event.

What do you do to relax?
When I want to relax, I just sit in my room and write lyrics.

That’s working isn’t it?
It’s not really working. I just have a connection with words and putting them together and making people feel a certain way by saying them. It’s almost like my meditation. Some people will either sit or do nothing or even run to meditate, but I’ll just sit in a room make sure it’s quiet and I’ll just write.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Besides Athens, Greece I’m going to have to say Switzerland. I’d love to go to Switzerland.

Have you ever been to Europe before?
No, I’ve never been to Europe before, but I’m looking forward to it.

Oh well you have to, you’re officially invited to come!
Oh my God, thank you. If I’m ever in Greece, I’m going to look you up, we’re going to party.

How can fans contact you?
