Earth Neutral Live

What got you into music?

C: I grew up listening to whatever music I came across in movies, cd's and anything else my family listened to. My parents were quite musical growing up; going to gigs around Germany/Britain and I've been listening to their favorites since I was born.

M: I guess.. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon opened a door to music. It made me want to explore different styles of music such as Jazz, Blues, Prog Rock, Heavy Metal etc... From that point, after listening that whole record, I started buying records from Jazz, Classical to the hardest music I could get. Then I also owe a big thanks to Metallica for again making me explore lots of styles of music.

What genre would you classify it?

S: We've found it very hard to pin point our genre as one particular style because most of our songs sound different to each other because we are still discovering and experimenting with new sounds. In vague terms I'd have to say we're most like rock/pop/indie.

M: I also think there is another genre which defines our music but we don't know yet... because we don't really sound similar to all the other indie bands around at the moment.

Why should people listen to your music?

G: We want everybody to give us a chance because maybe you'll like our stuff, and thats exactly what we want.

What are your hopes for 2007?

C & S: Since we've only recently discovered our ambitions, we plan to keep improving, exploring, experimenting and getting our selves known around the capital.

Though you are only in years 10 and 11, you wish to make it big. Why?

M: I don't know man... I'm seriously thinking of going to University, because I'm not just about music, I've got other interest of my own such as Art and Architecture, and I love Sciences. I just want to have different options when my life seriously starts, because I don't want to spend my life just doing one thing.

What are your inspirations when you work?

G: I normally get my inspirations from watching other bands I like performing because it really makes me want to be up there playing my own music.

What is your process of song-writing?

S: Well i usually write songs about things I see or go though. If one of us has a good tune, i would usually take that and write lyrics over it and then we would all come together as a band and finalize it until we're all happy with the result.

Who are your role models and why?

C: Our role models aren't individuals, but rather figures and the things they've achieved musically.

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

C: Hopefully, we'll be gigging comfortably around the globe and more and more people will enjoy our sound and performance.

S: I'd love to visit lots of countries and get as many people as we can to listen to our songs, so I'd love to go anywhere really, just to meet new people and see new things.

How did you pick the name Earth Neutral Live?

S: Well back when we were about 11 years old, we had just started the band but we couldn't find any good names. One day in science class Const and I were working with plugs and we noticed the 3 pins on a standard English plug were labeled E, N & L. They stood for Earth Neutral Live so all it took was a glance at each other and it was final. We've still kept that name since that day because it means so much to us and we think it's quite different to most other band names.

When and what made you decide to form a band?

S: We all love music and writing songs so Const and I came up with the idea back when were 9 years old and then when we met Matt, he became our drummer. We wanted something else in the band to advance our sound so in the summer of 2006, after only knowing Greg for a few months, we approached him to be our second guitarist.

What's it like recording?

S & G: Recording was very time consuming and long if you want things to go your way. It takes a lot of time to get things right all the time, but in the end your work is really shown.

If you could work with anyone or any band, who would it be?

C: any great band out there. Such as the B-52's because they have such a unique sound and Madness as well, just because they there's noting like them anywhere.

Lastly, where should people go to listen to your music?
