So you’re from Sweden, how did you end up in LA acting?
Well, what happened was I moved to America with my family when I was about 7 and I started in a musical theater program near where I lived and from there, I just kept wanting musical theater and eventually I was chosen by a manager who worked in Hollywood and he brought me to an agent and he got me started. That’s how I got into acting.

That’s awesome. You sing and you dance and you act, which one do you prefer?
I haven’t been able to choose just one that I really, really love because I’m passionate about all three. But I’ve been training in all three since I was little and I love them equally. I can’t really choose one yet.

Which type of dance do you do?
I have been doing ballet since I moved to America, that’s about 6 or 7. And I do point and jazz and I did a little bit of hip hop but I’m mainly a ballerina and a jazz dancer.

Ooh, nice mix. So are you going to continue singing in the future? Are you looking towards making a CD or are you concentrating on acting?
Well right now I’m kind of just, with the writer’s strike; it’s a little calmer in auditioning and in Hollywood. It’s kind of a little break for actors in auditions and there’s not much work right now. So I am working on a musical locally, with a high school that I plan on going to and other than that, I’ve just been dancing and you know, keep on working on my training, going to classes.

Pretty much enjoying life. What’s the best and worst parts of the entertainment business?
I would say the best parts are when you book a job. The way that makes you feel and the shooting is, you know, having the character and playing different roles and all of that is just great. And all the exposure you get in the entertainment business. You know, people recognize you from different projects that you do and I love that about the entertainment business is that everyone will see everything. But the worst is, well, the rejection can be hard if you know, you don’t book a part. You just have to keep your chin up and just go out there and look for something else aAnd also, just the competition with the girls. I haven’t had any problems yet but I’ve heard of stories of these girls and how competitive they can get. But actually I have so many friends in the business that are all wonderful. I guess that would be the worst.

What makes you smile when you’ve had a really bad day?
I would say my friends and family. At the end of the day, they’re what you have and anything else doesn’t matter as long as you have the people that care about you.

Who is the coolest celeb you’ve met?
I’ve met a couple cool celebs. I remember I met Simon Cowell and I love him! He’s actually a very nice guy even though he comes off, you know, he may come off a little bit mean on TV. He’s actually very honest and he’s a gentlemen. And Christina Applegate is such a sweet woman and Jean Smart, who I worked with. They’re both amazing, amazing women. So I would say those three.

Who do you most want to work with in the future?
I have to say Johnny Depp. He is brilliant. Everything he’s done. I watched his movies from when he was younger, you know, movies that came out before I was even born and his work, the way he’s developed, I would love to work with someone like him.

How do you balance your acting career and your regular life?
Well I don’t live in Los Angeles so where I live, it’s almost like I have a double life. I have my regular life and I have my acting life. So for me, it actually works out fine. When I’m at home, with my friends and I’m no different than anybody else. No matter where I am, I’m always Emma. I’m just like everyone else, every other teenager my age. So I haven’t had any problems at all. Other than the going up to LA and preparing for the script and all that stuff can kick you out of doing social things but it’s worth it cause I love acting.

Do you visit Sweden often?
Yes, I try to go every year. I’m going in two weeks actually. I visit a lot because it’s where my most of my family lives. So I go there for Christmas or last year we went there for the summer. I love Sweden.

What’s the key thing to success in your opinion?
I would say hard work, keeping your head on your shoulders, knowing who you are and just keeping yourself grounded. I think that if you work hard and you do those three then you can have it.

Moving onto “Unfabulous”, how are you and Maris alike and different?
I would say I’m not like much her actually. I’m quite the opposite. It was a very fun character to play because I’m a very... I have a problem; I can not be mean to a person. I really can’t so it was a challenge for me to be so blatantly rude. But it was such a fun show to work on with all the girls and the kids. I don’t know, when I got on set, I just had to become my character. You have to become your character. You just have to be that character until they say cut. Then when they say cut you just have to be who you are.

Sounds a bit ironic if you were completely opposite Maris.
Yeah, it is hard to play that.

So what has been a moment when you guys were filming that you will remember forever?
Oh God, there’s so many. I was watching the blooper tape from the cast party and there’s so many times when these hilarious things will happen and I just wish they could show them to the rest of the world because they’re so priceless. But you know, things have happened like somebody would trip. I remember this one episode where I was saying a line with Emma and then we had to walk out and so as I was walking out, there was this counter, next to the door, and I remember I just hit my hip on it and I fell on camera. It was such a funny moment and then we had this one episode where we had to dance and sing and that was a lot of fun and people were just messing around between takes. That was definitely the funnest episode.

Have you ever had a crush on someone on set? A guest or perhaps someone.
We all had crushes on someone on set. One time or another, everyone had a crush on someone but I’m trying to remember, I think I was the girl that had the least of the crushes. We were all just really good friends, at the end, it all just came down to all of us were friends and there was no couples really. There were never really couples but there were just crushes.

It’s probably better to be keep professional life and personal life apart from each other.
Yeah, yeah. It’s definitely better in any situation to keep it professional.

Who is the person from Unfabulous, the cast that you were most close with?
I still keep in contact with Chelsea and Malese and Dustin and Raja. I see them a lot because like, Chelsea’s birthday just came up maybe a month ago so we all went to that party and we got to see each other. We all have so much fun when we see each other. You know, remembering back all the memories we made. I mean we were together for three years. So I would say that I still keep in touch with them and I still talk to them.

If you could write an episode for “Unfabulous”, what would you make happen?
Oh gosh, I think I would do a switch around episode. Like all the characters kind of changed places, you know what I mean? I know that sounds silly! Me and Chelsea actually talked about that once, how it’d be funny if all the characters just changed personalities but had the same body. I think that would’ve been a really interesting episode that no one’s ever done before.

So would you be like Addy?
I don’t know. I’d just be someone else but I think that would just be interesting.

If you could go back and do it perhaps. Onto your favorites, what’s your favorite food?
My favorite food? Ugh, so many! Oh, Mexican food.

Burritos, tacos, nachos, bring it on!
Everything, everything that’s Mexican food.

Your favorite soda?
I don’t drink a lot of soda. I like water and milk.

Do you eat ice cream?
I love ice cream.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
I like cake batter ice cream.

What’s that?
You can get it at the Coldstone’s.

So it’s like cookie dough but cake dough, batter?
It’s like; little chunks of cake batter ice cream. I don’t know but it’s amazing though.

Your favorite TV show?
I really enjoy, ah, there’s so many. I really enjoy “Desperate Housewives” and another one of my favorites is “Pushing Daises” and my third favorite is “Dexter” - Very different shows.

Your favorite website?
I was gonna say, my guilty pleasure is perezhilton.com. I’m on it right now actually.

What would you do if you were on Perez Hilton one time?
Oh my gosh, if I were on Perez Hilton! I would laugh. That’d be very, oh God; I would not want that actually. But I think I might have been once because at my acting studio we were outside on a break and Britney Spears was in the Coldstone’s next to my acting studio and so we’re all standing there and there was TNZ and all these paparazzi outside. So maybe I got on TNZ because they kept on moving the camera to us because we were going in to stand in line. So maybe I was, I don’t know.

At least that’s not a bad way to be on Perez Hilton. It’s okay, it’s decent.
I would not want to be on here for anything negative.

What’s your favorite book if you like reading?
Oh, I love reading. One of my favorites, I read a book last year that was called The Color Of Water and that was an amazing book. Right now, I’m reading Julius Caesar but it’s hard to understand.

What’s The Color Of Water about?
It’s about a white woman, a Jewish woman and she marries a black man and they have a bunch of black kids so the whole story is based on finding out who you are. It’s about this boy who grows up with a white mother and it was based in the 1960’s. It’s very contradicting; it’s such a great book.

What’s your favorite movie?
This is a hard one. I like classics. I liked Edward Scissorhands, again you know, with Johnny Depp. Love that movie. I loved Superbad, I thought that was so funny! The Notebook and Mean Girls. Both of those, it’s because they have Rachel McAdams and that’s one of the actresses I aspire to be.

Does The Notebook make you cry?
It did. Not gonna like.

I haven’t met anyone who has seen The Notebook and hasn’t cried. Seriously.
I don’t think it’s possible.

Who’s your favorite or band?
I like Mika. I love listening to The Rocket Summer. He is an amazing musician. I actually like Britney Spears and One Republic. I love One Republic and Nicole Scherzinger.

What’s your favorite vacation spot?
Sweden.

Do you have any beauty tips on how to look and feel good everyday?
Beauty tips, oh goodness. I’m not the right person to ask for that. Well I’m very hygienic, I like to be clean and smell good and I think that’s attractive when someone smells good. You know, I love to smell good. A beauty tip would be, take care of yourself. You know, I wash my face everyday, I make sure. I brush my teeth, I’m very much so in that sense. Take care of yourself and that’ll make you feel beautiful.

Describe yourself in three words.
Fun, inhibited, and I’m intelligent.

If you were a superhero, who would you be?
Wonder woman.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to visit France again. I love France. Paris. I wanna go to London. Oh, there’s so many places I want to go.

What are your hobbies?
Oh well, obviously acting. I love to sing and dance. I play the piano. I love music. I don’t have time for sports but you know… I dance.

Dance is a sport.

Yeah. I dance a couple hours a day.

Very creative. Very very creative, I have to say. So are you home-schooled?
Yes, I am home-schooled. I have been for the past two years.

Do you feel like you’re missing anything from a regular teen life?
I wouldn’t say so much because I do so much. I meet people that way and I stay in touch with people that way plus there’s a performing arts school that I’m allowed to take a musical theater class after their school hours and I have a lot of friends there. But I would love to go to high school, I’m thinking for my last two years I wanna go to high school. I wanna be a regular kid for that.

Yeah, go to prom and all that cute little stuff.
Oh, I so go to those things. I’m actually going to my homecoming this Saturday.

Have you got a dress?
Yes, I do.

Out of curiosity, what color is it?
It’s turquoise.

If you were stuck on a desert island with only three things, what would they be and why? Assuming you had food and water.
I would say... oh! This is a hard question. A cell phone to call for help. A change of clothes...Oh goodness. I never thought about that. I don’t plan on getting stranded on an island anytime soon, haha. A book, that would be a good one.

Tell me a completely random fact about you that people don’t know.
Oh, there’s so many! I don’t know what to choose. I don’t what people know about me. I would say I’m very limber. I don’t think many people would know that. You know since I’m a dancer, I’m very limber. I don’t think anybody knows that.

How can fans contact you? Do you have a public myspace or fan mail or something ?
I do have a website, www.emmadegerstedtonline.com. That’s where a lot of people contact me by using the email. They can comment the page and you know; do all that. I do have a myspace but it’s only one of those I just go on it for my personal friends and I don’t have a public one yet. I’m hoping that I can get some music done and create a music myspace. And then I have fans do all that but I only go on myspace to talk to close friends I have.

Oh, there’s a big poser of you and that’s annoying.
Ohh yeah. I just ignore that. There’s nothing I can do about it. You know people, it’s flattering actually. It really is. You can’t think of it. There’s nothing you can do about it. Why take all that effort and energy to yell at them or something like that? I don’t understand why some people do that but I just leave them alone, you know, even though sometimes I don’t like they’re portraying me. You know but what can you do?
