Hi Francia! We last spoke with you in 2007. You've certainly come a long way in the two years since. What are some of your fondest memories from the last two years?
Wow. Yeah, a lot has happened in the last two years. Umm honestly everything that I'm experiencing is a memory in itself. Right now the greatest memories are the ones that I’m making with the show. It’s been doing great and I’m so grateful. And of course I just shot another Cutting Edge movie which will be out in March, and that was also such an amazing experience. I can't even single out one, everything is just a rollercoaster. A good, amazing rollercoaster.

'The Secret Life...' is receiving great ratings. Did you expect the show to be such a sucess when you started out, or did it come as a surprise?
I hoped it would, but I never expected it to be so big so fast. It was a pleasant surprise for all of us. I was happy to just be on the show because I love the concept, but now it’s a hit and I’m just so grateful. I can't believe how lucky I am.

Adrian has some pretty strong views on the world and how she wants to live her life. Are there any points in which you completely disagree with her views, and also any points where you're in wholehearted agreement? Yeah, there are sometimes where I don't agree with the way she lives her life and the views she has. Like when she wants to have sex with other guys just to get back at Ricky. That’s not the way to get back at someone first of all. LOL! But I loove playing her because she is a real character. I'm sure we all know someone like Adrian. Haha! And yes, then there are those times where I do agree with her. She is starting to show her soft side and even though she is very vindictive she has a good hear. She really does and I love that part of her.

If you were given writing duties for 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' for one episode, what would you write for your character?
Oh I don't know. A new man I guess? Only ‘coz I’m single and it would benefit me. Haha, just kidding! I'm not sure I really like where Brenda is taking Adrian’s character and how she is developing her. Anything I come up with would never even come close to Brenda's creativity so I just won't touch that subject. Haha

'The Secret Life...' certainly provides a good jumping off point for parents to discuss many of the issues affecting teens today. What lessons do you most hope young people will take from the show?
I really hope that teens will just learn that relationships and sex are not everything and you don't have to rush and experience that. Take your time and focus on your studies and focus on developing a future for yourself. The rest will come in time. And really, SEX IS NOT EVERYTHING! Wait and experience that when you’re older with someone you love and you know you'll have a future with.

What's the most interesting part about playing a character other people see as "the bad girl" in a cast?
Haha, it’s just fun to play Adrian. I can do so much with her, but what’s interesting is when people see me on the street and they get scared to talk to me because they think I’m really like her! It cracks me up because it’s not like I’m going to be mean or anything - I’m very outgoing and not out to get you.

If you could play another character on The Secret Life, which one would you like to try?
I loove Adrian! I can't even picture playing another character! But if I had to choose I’d have to say Madison. She’s sooo funny and so nosy - I loove it. But there is no way I’d play it as good as Renee. She does such a great job with her. She kills me every time.

What is another series you would like to guest star on, and why?
"Greys Anatomy" hands down. Only because it’s my favorite show and I want to meet everyone! Haha! I want to be one of the patients soooo bad.

Each Valentine's at Portrait Magazine we celebrate the top 10 Ships (couples) that fans love to obsess over on television. Do you have a favorite couple on 'The Secret Life...'?
I say Ricky and Adrian forever LOL!

Can you give us any sneak peek into what's coming up for Adrian in the new episodes?
I don't know how to give a sneak peak without giving anything away, but I will say she might have a new hook up and boy does that bring DRAMA!!!!

There's been some confusion as to what season of 'The Secret Life...' we're going into (2 or 3.) Can you run down the season/episode count for us?
JAN. 4th will be the second half of season 2. They break up the seasons in two so they'll show 12 episodes and then take a break and then come back with the rest. We have not shot season 3 yet.

Would you call Adrian a bad girl or a good girl?
She is a good girl because it’s not like she wishes anything bad against anyone - she has a good heart. She’s just a bit selfish sometimes, but never ever really wants to hurt anyone. Unless you mess with her, then that a different story! Haha!

Will Adrian's friendship with Grace continue in the new episodes? Is that something you'd like to see?
You see their friendship go in a rollercoaster. Just like any friendships in real life you love each other no matter what, but not always agree with what they’re doing. But I do love the new friendship Adrian and Grace are developing.

Who's your best friend (BFF) on set?
That’s a hard one because I’m close with everyone on set in a different way. But there is one person I call my bestie and I actually put him down as my emergency contact, LOL! And it’s Allen Evangelista, who plays Henry. He is my big brother.

Allen Evangelista recently twittered that he's teaching you to play guitar. How's it going? Do you have any tips for our readers also currently learning to play guitar?
He is trying to teach me but I guess I have an attention problem. It’s still going, but my fingers are so small and I have nails and it’s just so hard. But I’m getting there I’m trying. I am determined to learn “Use Somebody” from Kings of Leon, but I can’t get this one chord down and its soooo annoying ... Kudos to anyone that can play - its def. a talent. My advice is to not have nails and make your fingers grown in some way! Haha!

How did you get involved in the short film BOO? We are all friends and we all saw Paranormal Activity together and that’s how the idea came up. We wanted to shoot something scary, but it ended up funnier than expected. Haha. Really, it was just a project that my group of friends and I wanted to share with everyone. Our little own way of bonding. Hehe

What's it like being a Latina actress in Hollywood?
It's an honor. To be able to say that I'm Latina and have a job as an actress on a hit TV show in Hollywood is such an honor and really amazing. I can't believe I get to say that, and I plan on representing for a looong time. I love it, and I love that I don't have to hide that I am Latin. I loove to speak Spanish and proud of it.

You have obviously worked in movies as well as TV. What is one thing you would say is somewhat easier (or laid back) in working on a series vs. a movie, and why?
There are less locations in a series. They have most of our sets built on a lot so I don't have to worry about getting lost every time I go to work, LOL! On movies, in my experience, you go to a different location almost every day and just go back n forth.

What are some of your plans and hopes for 2009?
I can go on and on but I’ll keep it short. There are a lot of charities I've been wanting to get involved in and I always say I will and I just haven’t, so my goal for 2010 is for me to stop saying I want to and to start saying I am.
