Hey Graham. So you’re on the Bill Engvall Show. What’s the show about?
The Bill Engvall Show is an old fashioned sitcom about a typical American family living outside Denver, CO. We deal with issues like dating, learning to drive, receiving awful birthday gifts, mom & dad snooping on facebook, and stuff like that.
What’s your character Trent like?
Trent is a very mellow guy. He’s into sports and video games. And he’s not really into school. Some people would say he’s not the smartest guy in the world, but I think he’s a lot like Bill’s character in the sense that he is a smart guy, he just does some not-so-smart things. A lot of people come up to me and ask, “are you really as dumb in real life as you are on your show?” I hope not!
Are you like Trent in any way?
Yes. I’m like Trent in a lot of ways actually. My first love has always been sports. I am a little obsessed with football—especially the New Orleans Saints! My obsession with sports sometimes tends to get in the way of academics. That’s something that really attracted me to this role; the character is so much like me.
Who’s your favorite co-star?
Bill of course! (he’s my boss) No, everyone on the set is great. I really enjoy working with Tim Meadows. I’ve always been a huge Saturday Night Live fan. And it’s awesome to hear the stories he has to tell about working with such great comedic actors as Chris Farley.
Have you had any embarrassing moments on set?
I got a nosebleed once in the middle of shooting a scene in front of a live audience. It was really embarrassing because they stopped shooting and even called the paramedics! It was really no big deal. It stopped in a few seconds, but they still made me get checked out by the paramedics before we started shooting again.
Did you have a crush on anyone on set?
Yeah, I kind of had a crush on this girl who played my girlfriend on episode 2 of the first season. And then I found out she was 20 and I was 15 at the time! That didn’t really work out!
What’s your trick to help you memorize lines?
Well, I never really sit down and memorize them. We rehearse the scenes so much during the week that it just comes naturally.
What would be your ideal project to work on?
I guess that would have to be a serious movie. A movie with a great cast. I’d love to be able to show a different side of myself as an actor.
Who’s your celebrity crush?
It would probably be between Rachael Bilson and Megan Fox.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I play lots of sports. My friends and I go to either the bowling alley or the golf course. We also play a serious football game almost every weekend.
What do you look for in a girl?
Well, I’ve never been too picky about girls. But I’ve found that I’m definitely more attracted to smart girls.
