Could you please start by introducing yourselves to our readers?
Well, my name is Jared Burnett and I am a 22 year old violinist living
here in Orlando Florida!
What style of music do you play?
It is a mixture of my classical training infused with bluegrass, jazz,
and modern sounds.
Do you write any of your music?
Of course! Everything that I play on recordings, with the exception of
the popular pieces is my own writing.
How much practice do you do daily?
I typically will practice 2-3 hours a day
Are you from a musical family?
Well to begin with, my mother started singing at the age of 5, and now
has been teaching elementary school music for 32 years. My father has been
playing guitar since he was a little boy and my brother actually played the cello
for a bit.
I noticed the rather unusual shape of your violin on your website. Is
there any specific reason for that?
The electric violin that I play is the Zeta Boyd Tinsley Signature
Series violin. It was designed by Boyd (violinist for the Dave Matthews Band) and
its just the most intricate electric violin on the market.
Was there any specific thing that drew you to playing the violin?
Well, since I started at such a young age, it was intriguing that it
seemed more like a toy to me than a classical instrument.
How old were you when you started playing?
3 years old.
How many violins do you estimate you would have had in your lifetime?
Well, I have 5 now, and I would say in the lifetime, probably somewhere
around 10.
What do you hope to achieve most in your musical career?
I want everyone to listen to my playing and get inspirations from it, and
to one day win just one Grammy.
What is something you stand for and strongly believe in?
Karma. I think that what goes around comes around in everyone's life.
What countries do you hope your career will allow you to visit?
I would love to visit Austria, Ireland and Sweden. They are the places
where music is so alive, and also where my ancestors are from.
Could you tell us a little about your upcoming album?
Well, it's a lot of different sounds on the instrument, with some
classics that everyone knows. Just a mixture of the things I love to play.
Thanks so much for your time. Is there anything you would like to say to
the people reading this?
Just to anticipate something different when you hear my playing. Its an
audible experience you won't forget!! Thanks!
