How have you been lately?
I’ve been pretty good. The first half of “The Gathering” came on last night so that was kind of a big deal. So far this school year has been like, a lot of school work and a lot of ice skating, so…
What grade are you in now?
I’m a freshman in High School now, the 9th grade.
You mentioned ice skating. Do you Ice skate for fun or professionally?
I’m competitive. Well, I mean that I wake up early during the week, um, actually on Friday I woke at 4:30 so that I could skate before school so that’s why I don’t wake up early on the weekends too.
Wow, you’re so busy. How do you balance Ice skating, school work and acting?
It’s definitely a struggle sometimes, you have to make sacrifices a lot but it’s so worth it. My parents are big believers in balancing my life and having a lot of balance and not making acting or skating like the main focus in life. So it’s very balanced.
How about with your friends; do you manage to make time to hang out with them and go to parties and stuff like that?
Yeah, even though that’s probably the hardest thing, that’s probably the thing that gets pushed out of the way the most. Yes, my Mum and Dad won’t let me not spend time with my friends; they know how important that is and how important it is for me to just be a teenage girl.
So your friends must be pretty supportive?
They are. It’s funny they won’t even think about it, um, we’ll be walking in the mall and someone will be like ‘Are you that girl from The Sisterhood of the traveling pants?’ and they’re like ‘Oh yeah, you are that girl!’. But yeah, they are really supportive. It’s fun.
Do you ever feel that you’re missing out on your teenage hood?
Not at all. Not at all.
You’re just more in control and busier then most teenagers?
I just have a different job then most teenagers but yes, I’m very much a normal teenage girl.
Do you go to regular school?
Yes, I do.
So do people ever make nasty comments or treat you differently because of who you are?
No, I mean mostly not. There’s always a few people who are going to be that way but I mean, the school I go to now; the first day I was there everyone knew me as the girl who was in some movies so that’s how I’m known. Everybody’s starting to get used to it but yeah, there’s always a few people who will make comments but that’s going to happen with everybody, that’s just a part of it.
How do you deal with it?
You know, I don’t really let it bother me because that’s only a couple of people. I have a lot of friends who are really supportive that help me through this and help me stay balanced in my career. So just the few people and the few remarks I get, I really don’t let bother me just because I know what’s true and what’s not. So it’s not a big deal for me.
You have a lot of friends who are also actors, for example Victoria Justice, do you prefer hanging out with people in the same business as you because they understand you more or regular people?
You know, it doesn’t really matter. I have friends who are in the business and my school friends but, I mean, also it can be nice sometimes to get away from the acting world and all of the craziness and busyness of that, so yes it’s nice to have friends in the business because you get that understanding but then it’s nice to have friends in other place because you get the understanding of wanting to have the normalcy so it’s good to have the balance of things.
Onto the sisterhood of the traveling pants. First I’ll have to say you were absolutely brilliant in it and made me cry.
Thank-you.
So what was your most memorable moment during filming?
Um, my most memorable moment. You know, I think because the times I was with Amber Tamblyn, just hanging out with her in between takes. She would just make me laugh so hard and the director would be like, ‘Ok guys, you’ve got to come back, you’ve got to focus’ so that was kind of the most fun thing about it, just when we were laughing and being weird between takes. It was fun, it was a lot of fun.
Which was the hardest scene to film?
Um, probably the hospital scene with me and Amber just because it was kind of whole day of just being in the hospital, laying in that hospital bed, crying so it was a whole day, some of that. It was exhausting and I was pretty tired. It was emotionally draining.
So how did you make yourself cry?
That’s definitely one of the hardest parts of acting. I really have to put myself in the characters situation and really focus on what the characters going through. Even though that’s really hard sometimes I have to create a scenario with the scene that kind of goes with my life and that’s definitely the hardest part of acting, to just make yourself get emotional when nothings going wrong with you, it’s all the character. That’s definitely hard.
Do some people try to think of something hard that will trigger their memory and make them cry.
Sometimes. Sometimes that’s the way I’ve got to do it when there’s nothing at all but sometimes I’ve got to try and relate.
What has been the most embarrassing moment on set?
Most embarrassing moment on set… Oh! I remember. I did a movie called Dicky Roberts with David Spade and I had some sort of Ice cream shake or something like that and I had this shake and I was telling my school teacher something and I kind of use my hands as I talk. I was holding this shake and all of a sudden the top came off and the whole drink just spilt all over her. That was really bad.

Who’s been your favorite person to work with?
I get that question a lot but you know, I work with so many different people, like I’ve worked with Tony Jones, with Cate Blanchett and David Spade then all the girls from ‘Sisterhood’. I really liked working with Cate Blanchett I think just because she’s my favorite actress, I think she’s amazing but I also liked working with Blake Lively on Sisterhood just because I’m still kind of friends with her, I talk to her sometimes so that was good.
If you could go back and re-act one movie or one role that you’ve done, or a TV show, what would it be and why?
I recently did an episode of “Ghost Whisperer” and I’d probably go back and do that because looking back I haven’t been as pleased with my performance as I thought I would be and it’s such a bummer to watch that and knowing how hard you worked and then knowing you could have been just a little bit better. So I probably would have done that again.
If you were the director of The Sisterhood of the traveling pants. What would you change if you could change just one thing about it?
You know, I don’t know. I mean, I loved the director on that movie, he was so much fun and he just came into our girly lives and it was fun and I don’t think I would change anything because he kept it so simple with all four of the girls. He made it about all of them and none of them were like the main person. It was all about them and he kept it very simple and I really loved it the way it was. I don’t know what I would change. I have no idea what it means being a director, I could not direct a movie so I really admire that. I don’t know what I would change…
So onto “The gathering” since it just aired today and yesterday. How did you feel that you connected with the character? Did you feel that you had things in common or was it just completely different from you?
Well, no. My character in “The gathering” is very much a teenage girl and she’s struggling to fit in and I think that’s something every teenage girl goes through. Especially going into High School, where you fit in with all of that, it’s very much a normal part of life so I think you can kind of relate to everyone. I think with her Mom being gone, she’s really struggling because a lot of teenage girls get advice and encouragement from their Moms, knowing that they went through the same thing too. I know that when my Mom is gone away, like with my brother on a project it would be hard for me to because I couldn’t always talk to her and stuff so I think she’s very much a relatable character to all teenage girls.
So her Mom mysteriously disappears, how did you get the emotions through yourself and onto the screen?
Well, I was just thinking what would I be doing if my Mom had suddenly disappeared and we thought that she was part of this cult. I would freak out and I would probably be angry thinking she wanted to leave. I mean there would be all sorts of emotions going through me so I had to really believe that that was happening to me. And that was just a weird kind of messed up thing. I would be mad and sad, so I had to let all of that play out, really believing that was happening.
Which cast member are you closest to on set?
I was with Peter Gallagher probably most of the time and he was funny. I liked working with him because he would make me laugh all the time. But Hannah the girl who plays Sarah, I was kind of close to her too because we were both the same age so we’d both talk and stuff between takes but probably Peter Gallagher because I did most of my scenes with him.
What was your favorite thing about “The gathering” as a TV series?
My favorite part of filming; I got to do a lot of stuff that I hadn’t done before and it was really fun. I had to put these contacts the size of quarters in my eyes that were completely white so it made my eyes look white. So that was pretty creepy and cool. And then I did green screen work when I was falling off the building and that was kind of fun because I got to fall of onto a bunch of boxes and as a TV series, I really like it, if you put aside a lot of the cultish, weird stuff going on you really see the value of family and how it can really tear a family apart if one piece is missing and how important each member of a family is.
I saw a picture of you when you had those contacts on. Oh my God you looked very freaky, I have to say.
*laughs* All my friends are all freaked out, they’re like ‘Wow, your eyes!’ so yeah, that was fun.
Was it hard putting the contact lenses in?
I was freaked out at first. I did not like it, did not want anything touching my eyes. I did not like it. I mean, because this is a process putting one in because they’re not just small contacts, they’re like huge and they completely blinded me – I couldn’t see anything. So people had to walk me around set and I remember this was one time and I was supposed to be on my mark and I had my contacts in and during the scene they were like ‘Ok, cut, cut, cut’ and I was going, ‘Ok, what happened?” and they were saying, “Well you were like five feet away from your mark,” and I had moved and didn’t even know it cause I couldn’t see. So yeah, it was a big process but it was kind of cool in the end.
So what was the atmosphere like on set, because it’s quite a – not a scary I suppose series but mysterious. So was the set like really fun and suddenly they’re like ‘Action!’ and you had to go all mysterious or was it a bit tense?
No, actually the Director; Bill really made it, I really liked that way he directed it because he made it so... he would let our ideas come out and then he would mix them with his ideas. But the set… I was actually really surprised with all the stuff that was going on and how we were pressed for time and all of that stuff and how… really enjoyable it was. And yeah, it was really enjoyable and fun and the props were cool. The stunt stuff… it was really enjoyable considering how much it required.
So what was your favorite stunt?
Oh, definitely the falling of the building thing. The director; both Rebecca, Hannah and I were all just like – they built part of the building inside of a studio in front of a green screen and then we would go on the edge and we had to let ourselves completely fall. It was like we had to fall six feet, I think, onto some boxes that were kind of soft and we were all alone and scared at first just because it looked scary to fall that far even though it wasn’t that far and at the end we were like ‘Can we do it again; fall again?’ it was so fun. So yeah, that was really fun.
This or That:
Computer or Television: Probably, television.
Burgers or Hot Dogs: Burgers. I’m traumatized with hot dogs. When I was younger, I was in elementary school they had really good hot dogs and they made me sick. I really don’t like them…
Mexican or Italian food Oh boy, probably Mexican
Comedy movies or mystery movies Mystery
Gold jewellery or silver jewellery Um, Silver
Vanilla or Chocolate Chocolate
Ice skating or roller blading Ice skating. I hate roller blading, Oh my god… when I was little… it’s so different from ice skating even if it doesn’t look it. It is so different that when I was younger it would freak me out so bad that I would cry because I hated it so much. Now roller blading is okay but I hate those older roller skates with the four wheels… oh my god.
Movies at home or in the theatres: In the theatres, it’s always better in the theatres
Morning person or Night owl: I’m a morning person, definitely because I’m used to waking up so early. I’m the first to fall asleep at a sleepover because I’m so used to falling asleep early and getting up early. I’m definitely not a night owl.
What has been your favorite outfit to wear at a premier or event?
I really like the premier of the Missing. That was like, a different outfit mostly because I don’t really prefer, well I didn’t when I did the Missing, when I was that age, did not like wearing dresses so I wore, kind of, it was a white and then it had this drape thing that went over it. It was really pretty, I liked it.
Have you ever had any fashion disasters?
No, I mean I really can’t recall anything that happened to me.
What are your beauty tips?
As far as hair goes I kind of went through a stage where I could never do anything with my hair and it always looked better on other people. I had naturally curly hair so I always wanted it straight but I think the key to having your hair look good is whatever you do with it to always have healthy hair.
Make up wise: I don’t wear a lot of make up because I don’t like that feeling of wearing a lot but I like to keep it natural and looking as natural as possible but then I like to experiment with colors and eye shadow and stuff but most of the time I like to keep it pretty natural. I don’t like to be crazy and stuff.
Describe yourself in three words?
Compassionate. Busy. Friendly.
If you were a super hero who would you be?
I guess I can kind of, sort of, I don’t know if this is really one but there’s no show for Supergirl is there? Oh, that Incredibles girl who can go invisible… I don’t know what her name is… Violet, I would be her.’
What would you do if you were invisible?
I know this is so bad and this is why I shouldn’t be invisible but I could walk away from a group of people and be like ‘Ok, bye’ and then come back and hear what they’re saying and see if they’re talking about me and then I could spy on my brother and yeah, I would do that. I would do it for the wrong reasons. *laughs*
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probably Paris. Oh, no I would go to Belize.
What’s your favorite place in the whole world?
Probably, apart from where I live now and where I’m from, probably my Grandma’s house.
Where are you from?
I’m from Texas.
If you were president for one day what would you do?
Oh golly. People that have been mean to me before, I would boss them around and I would make my brother do whatever I want him too *laughs* I wouldn’t know what else to do. I’d have fun in the white house, I would have a party.
What are your hobbies apart from Ice skating and acting?
I play guitar and I just got a new one for my birthday. It’s a golden one. It’s really pretty. Apart from that, um, I’m kind of involved in my school this year. I’m in a club, it’s called ‘the wrecking crew’ and it’s kind of like a cheering section for sports in my school so I’m involved in that, it’s really fun. I’m not a cheerleader; a big group of us just sit in the stands and cheer for our team. All my friends who are on cheer tell me ‘You need to join cheer, you need to be a cheerleader’ but I’m like “I can’t because what if I have to leave for a project and they have one less cheerleader, that’s not fear” so that’s always been kind of a thing that everybody’s been telling me I need to do but it’s weird.
Would you join the cheerleaders if you had an opportunity?
Probably if I wasn’t acting and Ice Skating because Ice skating is my sport and that takes up all the rest of my time. If I wasn’t doing those things then I probably would.
So what’s your favorite sport?
Beside’s Ice skating, Football for sure... I’ve always wanted to play football. I like football a lot…
If you were stuck on a dessert Island and could only take three things what would they be? Assuming food and water was provided…
Probably one of those huge tents and then my cell phone and a boat.

What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to a lot of music. I get asked what’s my favorite kind of music and I don’t know because I really do listen to a lot of different types. I listen to country considering where I’m from and then… pop music is probably my favorite. Pop music and rock is definitely my favorite.
Tell me a random fact about you?(AKA: A secret)
I’m pretty disorganized, for being a girl my room is like, pretty disastrous…
That’s probably not high on your list of priorities to keep a clean room
Well, on my mother’s it is. I get in trouble all the time about that. My brother’s room is cleaner then mine. I get in trouble. I recently got in trouble for that because I leave the bathroom a mess and my brother gets really mad and then I leave my room a mess so for five weeks just now I had to really clean the bathroom, the whole bathroom, like Ajax and all that kind of stuff onto the tub and everything and clean my room. On Saturday too so I couldn’t go out.
What’s your best piece of advice for life in general?
Probably would be to read the Bible and pray a lot ‘cause that’s the only way I that I really know how to handle situations the right way and when I don’t handle them that way it always comes out totally wrong so that would be my biggest piece of advice.
So you’re very religious?
Yes, I’m very much a Christian.
How can fans contact you?
I don’t have an official website and I don’t have a Myspace either but I do get fanmail through my agent and my manager so they could mail it to my agent and my manager and they’d mail it to me.
