Could you please start by introducing yourself to our readers?
Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Mellott. I am a 16 year old pop singer from Maryland.
So how many albums do you have out and what are they called?
I am currently working on my first full-length album now!
Which song is your favorite out of all of your songs and why?
I love them all! But if I had to pick one, it would be “Remember Me” because it is the first song I ever recorded and it has won many awards.
How did you get started singing?
When I was little, I sang all the time. My Kindergarten teacher encouraged my mother to put me in voice lessons. I began voice training at 5 years old with classical and musical theater pieces. Eventually, I discovered that I wanted to focus on singing pop music.
Do you get nervous before you go on stage or not really?
Before I go on stage, I sometimes feel very nervous, because I want to always perform my best! The moment I hit the stage, though, my excitement and love for performing take over, and I am not nervous at all! I love performing so much!
Do you write your own songs?
I love writing music! I am always writing songs. I also like to collaborate with other musicians, lyricists, etc. Some of my songs are written by other people also.
Who are some of your role models?
I have many role models! I look up to my parents and my sister a lot. Musician wise, I really respect and admire Kelly Clarkson, because she has an amazing talent, and also Gwen Stefani, because she is very creative and unique.
What is next for your career such as touring or what?
I am working on new music now. I am involved in several collaborations, including one with Bryant McGill, author of the internationally award-winning “McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme”. There are also a couple of projects that I am considering, and I’ll let you know when I decide what I am doing! <3
If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring singers what would it be?
Practice and perform at any opportunity. And stay true to yourself and what you want to be as an artist.
Thank you so much for your time! Is there anything you would like to tell your fans?
