Hi Devon and Kevin! Could you please start each by introducing yourself to our readers?
Kevin: Hello. I’m Kevin Goocher, the heavy metal Dad, and this is my pop-singer, actor and dancing daughter, Devon.
Devon: HI Everyone!
Tell us a little about ‘I Know My Kids A Star’?
Kevin: Wow! Where should we start? Well, it’s a VH1 reality TV show where 10 kid/ parent teams compete for $50,000 and a one-year contract to be represented by a known talent agency. It was fun and crazy and frustrating, but over all quite an experience.
Devon: Yeah, it was crazy there. The parents went pshyco! But the kids got along great. I think we played too much. LOL
Do you each have a most memorable moment during shooting of the show?
Kevin: For me the most memorable moment was while sleeping one night the first week we were all in the house together, I was woken up by a loud ka-boom that sounded like one of the crew technicians had dropped a big equipment crate or something. Then all of a sudden the house started to shake. My bed momentarily turned into one of those vibrating kind that you see in the not-so-fancy motels. It turned out to be my first experience with an earthquake. We don’t really have those in Texas.
Devon: LOL! Yeah, that was funny. I forgot about that. We were all screaming and the crew was just like, “go back to sleep it’s just an earthquake”. I’m like, “JUST AN EARTHQUAKE??!!”. LOL
Little Devon, I hear you’re a dancer, singer, and cheerleader. Which is your favorite?
Devon: That is a really hard one. People always ask me that, but I love it all. I don’t think I could ever choose. I’d figure a way to put it all in there somehow. LOL When I sing my own songs at shows, we add a lot of dance and even cheer moves in there. My back up dancers and I are all cheerleaders so we do some tumbling and other cool stuff.
Would you like to try a career in acting some day?
Devon: OH YEAH!!!! I would love to some day win an Oscar and a Grammy. I guess I have a lot of work to do! LOL I am taking acting classes at KD STUDIOS in Dallas. I love it!

I hear your Dad’s a heavy metal rock star. Do you like the same kind of music?
Devon: I like some of it. I like KISS and POISON. Oh and my dad’s band PHANTOM-X. LOL!!! Can’t forget that one or he will ground me, but mostly I like pop music. Something I can dance to.
Kevin: Hahaha. Yeah! We are actually complete opposites of each other in musical taste. But, the bottom line is….good music is good music and a good melody is a good melody no matter what the style.
Do either of you write songs?
Kevin: We both write. Devon writes with me sometimes. We have a song called “Boom” that along with her mom, the three of us wrote together. We have Devon’s first CD completely written and are recording everything now. But, writing pop songs for Devon has proven to be quite a task after dedicating most of my skills to coming up with songs for my heavy metal band. But, I’d like to get into writing music for Film and TV and maybe other recording artists along with music for Devon and myself.
Devon: He is teaching me all kinds of things. He tells me that if I am going to be a singer, I need to know how to play it on an instrument and I need to know how to write it myself. He doesn’t want me to have to have other people do it all for me later in life.
Where would you like to be, career wise, a few years from now?
Devon: LOL!! I would like to have the #1 selling CD, the #1 selling worldwide tour, an awesome show on TV, and throw in some movie roles too. Is that too much to ask? LOL!! That would be way cool.
Little Devon, who are some of today’s young stars that you look up to and admire?
Devon: You know, I like a lot of stuff. But Fergie is one of my favs. I love Justin Timberlake too. Christina Aguilera has an awesome voice. I always work on her songs when I practice. And I love Britney Spears. I mean her music and dance is great.
I hear you’re performing in support of the Houston Symphony in April. Do you get nervous before you perform? How do you deal with that?
Devon: Yes, I am doing that show and we have other tour dates scheduled also. We keep adding more and more. I sometimes get nervous, but it is a good nervous. Once the lights start twirling and the music starts, it’s all good.
Thanks for your time! Anything you’d like to say in closing?
Devon: I’d like to say, I hope the people who read this will get to come to one of my shows because I like to meet everybody. Send me a message on my myspace. I try and write back to everyone. Thank you!
