Kristy Frank

Hey! Can you please introduce yourself?
My name is Kristy Frank and I recently released my first album called "Freedom".

What got you into music?
I started dancing when I was 2 years old, and my first time on stage was when I was 3… and I loved it so much that they literally had to carry me off the stage! So my parents realized that I loved to perform so it just seemed natural to start singing lessons. And I immediately fell in love with it… So I’ve been doing it ever since!

How did you decide what genre to sing in?
When I started recording, when I was 9, I was singing bubble gum pop. Then I tried a more R&B style, and that just didn't seem to fit. But then I was approached with my first rock song called "Addicted to You", which is now on my album, and it just worked! From then on I just new that was the style of music I was made to sing.

Who plays the instruments in your songs?
Every producer I worked with had specific people that they were interested in using… So I was fortunate enough to get to work with a bunch of different musicians.

Why should people be encouraged to listen to your music?
Every song on my album has something very personal attached to it, and I think that shows. By listening to it, I feel like you're getting to know a lot about me, which I love and hopefully you will too!

What was your first gig like?
Well, I’ve been performing basically since I could walk so I can't really remember… But my first gig performing the music off of my album was awesome! It was in Valencia, CA, and I didn't really know what to expect. But I got there and the kids were so receptive and welcoming and just made me feel so good… and it was SO exciting getting to perform MY music for the first time, I couldn't have been happier.

How long did it take for you to make it?
In my eyes, I still have a long way to go! I have been so blessed to have accomplished all of the things that I have at such a young age, but I still have so many more things I want to do. And even after I accomplish those I feel like I’m just going to find other things to strive for! I'm a go-getter.

What are your hopes for 2007?
2007 is going to be a very busy year! I plan to tour and perform as much as physically possible, get in the studio to write and record another album, promote my album in Japan, audition for as many TV shows and movies as I can (and hopefully book something), and on top of that I’m graduating early from high school! I'm looking forward to all of it.

Though you are only young, you are already quite big, why is that important to you?
Being a role model is something that is extremely important to me. So using my platform as a musician as a way to reach out and put a good message out there for kids is so amazing! I definitely haven't been given anything on a silver platter, I’ve worked very hard at everything I’ve gotten, but I think that has made me who I am.. So proving to people that if you work hard and stay focused on what you really want then you can make it happen, is really important to me!

What are your inspirations when you work?
This industry has so many ups and downs, it can be very discouraging… but if I just keep in mind the reasons why I love what I’m doing, and then I think that’s inspiration enough.

What is your process of song writing?
There are so many ways you can go about it. If I’m feeling inspired, I just sit myself down and write let my feelings flow out of me.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Ya know… I’m the kind of person who lives day to day so it’s hard for me to think that far ahead. But hopefully I’ll be happy healthy and playing music… Basically, exactly what I’m doing right now!

Who are your role models and why?
Sheryl Crow and Gwen Stefani are my two biggest role models. I think their creativity and love for music is so awesome!

If you could work with anyone or any band who would it be?
I'm gonna have to say Gwen Stefani or Sheryl Crow!

How can your fans contact you?
The best way for my fans to contact me is through my Myspace address which is… http://www.myspace.com/kristyfranks. I love getting messages and comments, so please write me anytime!
