How did your acting career start?
I actually started out singing when I was younger. I always performed and it slowly lead to acting. I got involved with an agency in Memphis and then I begged my mum to come out to LA. Got an agent, started auditioning and slowly things began to happen.
What are the best parts/worst parts of acting?
It’s really neat to get inside someone else’s head and be someone else for a little bit. I also love working with different actors. The worst part…rejection isn’t fun but it comes with the territory.
What future projects can we expect you in?
I’m going to be in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 which comes out in August. I also was just on Bionic Woman [TV show]. I also have a few more things in works but I don’t want to jinx them yet!
You mentioned that you started your career by singing. Do you still sing now or are you more focused on your acting?
Yeah! I’ve been pretty busy lately with my acting but I’ve been recording some stuff. It’s all about finding the songs and finding a good style.
So will we be expecting an album soon?
There’s nothing set right now but I definitely want to do that in the future!
Who’s the coolest celeb you’ve met?
I really liked Michelle Ryan! She was really sweet and really down to earth! She’s been in this acting world for a while so she gave me advice. I also met Tom Hanks once! That was the only time I got star struck!
Who do you most want to work with?
I love Meryl Streep! I could play her granddaughter or something! I also love Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon.
What advice would you give upcoming actors?
Just make sure it’s really what you want to do. There are a lot of people who say they want to become actors but it’s a lot more pressure than some people can handle! Just make sure your heart is in to it and that you’re not going to let anything tear you down! If it’s not what you really love, then it’s not worth it.
Onto The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2. Before getting the role, did you know of the book/movie?
I was actually a huge fan of the first one! I read the first book but I haven’t read the other ones. I was familiar with my character and I was a big fan of Alexis Bledel so I was really excited that I got to play her younger sister!
In the movie, Effie is partially Greek. Did you have to learn Greek for the role?
I actually didn’t! I only have to film one scene in Greece so I was there for 10 days. It was like a paid vacation! We had a funeral scene in Greece and that’s all…I didn’t have to speak.
Did you like Greece?
I loved it! It was beautiful and the people were really nice and welcoming!
What’s your most memorable moment from set?
Not specifically from The Sisterhood, but from Bionic Woman I’m a big dog fan and everyone had a little dog so we’d all bring our dogs to set for play dates!
Have you ever had any embarrassing moments on set?
For the first pilot I ever did, I slipped and fell while we were filming! It was really embarrassing!
Back to the Sisterhood. Are you anything like Effie?
Effie’s really outgoing. We have similar personalities but Effie’s a lot younger than I am and I feel that I understand things better than her. We’re both bubbly and boy crazy! There are definitely similarities!

What are your views on Hollywood?
I think lately it’s gotten a bad name because of people in the tabloids but not everyone is like that! It’s not as crazy as it sounds! As long as you have a good head on your shoulders and you stay driven and focused, you’ll be fine! I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t what I wanted to do, but its not as scary as it looks!
As an actor, is fame important?
Actually no. I think there’s a lot respected actors and actresses who stay under their radar their whole career and they have the longest career. You’ll find that people who are at the top of their game right now won’t be known in 10 years! It can be great but you don’t need it to be successful.
At the end of a long day, what puts a smile on your face?
My dog! I have a Yorkie and he’s so chubby and cute! I love dogs!!!
And now some random questions:
You always look fabulous! What are your beauty tips?
I don’t have anything out of ordinary! Wash your face every night and lately I’ve been really into sun screen. My mum has been nagging at me for years about it! I used to lay out in the sun but I wear sun screen lately, I moisturize…just take care of your skin!
Ever had any heart breaks?
Very minor when I was younger. I haven’t had my heart broken properly yet!
Tell us about an embarrassing moment in general.
For some reason I used to think this was really embarrassing…I used to be in a choir and we had just gotten done performing. It was on a large stage with a very large audience, when I was about 10. We had just performed the song and all of the choir walked off. I didn’t realize they had walked off and I was stuck on the stage for a few minutes, not realizing that everyone had left! For some reason, that stuck with me as being so embarrassing!
If you were stuck on a desert island with only three things, what would they be (assuming you had food and water)?
I’d take my dog, my iphone because it has everything and my mum! She’d know how to make me feel better!
Tell me a secret!
I have a horrible habit of biting my nails!
What’s the strangest thing you’ve had in your mouth?
One time I was at home and I went to this craw fish restaurant…I put one in my mouth and it was pregnant and it had a lot of its eggs on it and I didn’t realize it! So I had little craw fish eggs in my mouth…

How would survive crocodile attack?
I would stand on its mouth so it wouldn’t bite me!
What’s your biggest phobia?
I hate flying!
If you had to choose, would you rather live without knee joints or elbow joints?
I’d live without elbow joints because I’d always want to walk! But I recently watched a documentary about this girl who could do everything that hands can do with her feet! So maybe I could use my feet instead! She could do her make up, she could write, type, everything!
What snack/food would you not be able to live without?
I’m obsessed with hummus! Also frozen yoghurt!
Do you have a myspace? If yes, what is it? How can fans contact you?
I have an official website! www.lucyhale.com where you can send me questions that I answer!
