Ryan and the Zeke and Luthor boys

So you play Ginger in Zeke and Luther, which is Zeke’s sister. So what’s her role in the show?
Ginger is Zeke’s younger sister and she is always trying to outwit her brother and trying to pull pranks on him and make sure that everyone knows that she’s smarter than him.

Oh, sounds mischievous.
Yes, she’s very mischievous too.

So is it hard playing Ginger? Is she like you or completely different?
She’s pretty much completely different, but no I’m not as outspoken as she is and I can never play pranks on anyone I’m so not good at that or conniving at all.

So it must be pretty fun playing her?
Yeah, it’s fun because I’m not sneaky at all and she so is.

So how has Ginger changed from season one to season two? Is she going to be better, worse?
Well, in season two she’s just grown up, you know. She has interest in some boys and she does some crazy stuff for some boys.

Oh, sounds exciting.
And she continues the quest to be the greatest entrepreneur in the world and earn so much money.

Ryan as future entrepreneur Ginger.

Sounds like quite an interesting season.
Yes. It’s going to be fun.

So out of all the episodes that you’ve filmed, which is your favorite?
The first episode, “Bros Go Pro,” that would probably have to be my favorite one. It was so much fun, I got to be the boy’s manager, wear a business suit, and speak on their behalf.

Oh, very professional.
Yes, it was very professional– at times.

So do you have any funny or embarrassing stories from set?
No, the boys and I are all very comfortable with each other and I don’t think there are any embarrassing stories; we just laugh a lot together about random things.

Is it hard being the only girl out of the main cast?
I like it. I mean it’s like I have three older brothers, so it’s not like I’m the only girl who doesn’t really know the boys. We have lots of girl guest stars, so that’s always nice, like my best friend on the show, Poochie.

So you’ve been acting for so many years, what’s your favorite thing about it?
Probably being another character, being something you’re not. Kind of like Ginger and pulling pranks, and being sneaky and conniving, and meeting all the great people and forming families. That’s pretty much what you do with all the acting jobs I’ve done, it’s like forming a family with all the other cast and crew.

And your least favorite thing about acting?
Getting up early probably, but I’d do it anyways because I love it so much.

Did you know that this young talented actress also did a bit of modelling and even modelled for Barbie? [Pic Credit: Ryan Newman Online]

Acting has a lot of rejection, how have you learned to deal with that?
I don’t take it personally, and after I have gone on an audition I just try and forget it, move and they’ll call whether they like me or not. I do the best I can and normally it comes down to things like looks, age and height stuff like that.

So I’m guessing you’re home schooled now.
Yeah, I’m home schooled, this is my second year.

Do you ever miss real school?
No, never really, it’s so much easier to be home schooled. Because you don’t know if you’re missing anything and you don’t know if the next day your coming in there’s a test or you already missed a test or something like that. And my best friend lives like one door away so it’s really nice to go outside and play with her at the end of the day.

So apart from acting I heard you like dancing, what got you started with that?
When I was like two, or something crazy like that, I did those half ballet and half tap lessons with all those other little kids and every since then I just started doing it all the time. And I also sing and play the piano and stuff like that.

Wow, very creative.
Yeah, it’s hard to find time for that stuff, but I try really hard.

Have you ever thought about singing professionally?
Yes, absolutely. I just actually recorded my first cover song yesterday.

Congratulations!
Thank you.

So it’s definitely a possibility in the future?
Yes, a big possibility.

Look out for that everyone. And now some random question to help fans get to know you better. What food can you not live without?
Cheese and pizza, I know they’re pretty much the same thing, but… I’m dairy girl; my parents call me dairy queen.

Which song has been playing on repeat recently?
Any Taylor Swift song.

Aw, she’s amazing, she so good. Have you seen her live in concert?
Yes, I actually have. She’s really good live. She has a lot of presence and she’s really sweet with all the fans screaming out at her and stuff.

What’s your secret addiction?
Candy. Not chocolate, but the sweet and sour, gummy stuff. I can’t live without that.

You don’t like chocolate?
I like chocolate, but that’s not what I crave normally.

You like pure sugar. What do you do to relax?
Probably watch TV or listen to music, or play the piano.

Ryan at the Spy Next Door premiere.

What’s your favorite TV show?
I watch most of the Disney shows, like Wizards of Waverly Place.

Who is your biggest role model?
My mom probably, her job is way harder than mine. She always trying to be my parent and drive me around, trying to keep the family connected when she’s driving around with me and I have a sister at home with my dad.

And how can your fans contact you?
I have twitter, its www.twitter.com/ryrynewman and my facebook is www.facebook.com/ryrynewman and then my MySpace is www.myspace.com/officialryannewman, but I don’t go on there very often. And I have a SayNow. My SayNow is ryannewman. And my fan mail address is…
