Hi Susan! So you’re currently playing the role of Chloe Kmetko (Emily’s mum) in the hit show, Make It or Break It. How has it been as an experience, being part of this show?
I love the show, the other actors are all great to work with and we have a good time.
For those who don’t know about it, could you give us a quick re-cap of Season 1?
There are 4 teen girls competing in gymnastic competition on the national level. It’s the drama that goes on behind the scenes and it involves their parents. I play the mother of Emily Kmetko.
Your character Chloe is quite unusual. What’s the most challenging part of this role?
She’s a great character to play. She loves her children and will do anything to help them succeed. She’s a cheerleader of her children. The other moms feel threatened because Chloe has sex appeal, and is not as polished as they are. She’s real with a little pazzaz!

On what level do you relate with your character? Are you similar or very different as people?
I’m very different from Chloe. I would not wear that much make-up and would never wear my hair that big! But I think we share the same compassion and love for friends family.
As a mother, she’s had to face many challenges. Do you think that Emily is too harsh on her?
I don’t think she is harsh – Emily gets what Chloe is all about and vice versa. They are more than mother-daughter, but have a friendship.
Chloe seems to have had a lot of romantic troubles in the past. What advice would you, as Susan, give Chloe about dating and relationships?
Take it slow! Date around and find a man you want to spend the rest of your life with!
What sorts of mischief does Chloe get into the second season of the show?
Can we expect more drama with her love life and her attempts to be the best mother that she can?
Absolutely. Chloe will have even more drama than last season. All I can say is, she is very competitive and there’s an interesting parallel with the teen girls competition between them and the moms have their competitions with the others.

Through thick and thin, viewers seem to truly connect with Chloe. Are you surprised at the support and love that your character is getting?
I’m not surprised. Chloe is as real as you get! She loves her children, she is young at heart, she’s a cheerleader for her family and friends, she’s into fashion and make-up (her own!), so I think people connect there, and of course she’s been through a lot, being a single mother of two and having a child who is physically challenged. That’s a lot. People connect there. They want to see people overcome these obstacles and still be successful.
Apart from Make It or Break It, what does the future hold in store for you?
Just work and more work. I love what I am doing now, but I am open to other things like films and other TV projects.
