Can you start by telling us alittle about yourselves?
The Lift is an up and coming independent pop-rock quartet from the New York/ New Jersey area. They have built a small but devout fan base in the area by word of mouth, and have just released their full-length, debut album, Once, in June of 2006. For more information, you can visit our website at www.TheLiftBand.com

How did the whole band start?
Three years ago, Mike, Matt and James formed an acoustic group that would play for drunken college kids in bars and on campus as they returned from their nights out. We then started writing songs and Mike's brother Dennis joined the group in the spring of 2004. They were then called The Lift.

Do you guys have an album out or working on one?
The Lift released their debut, full-length album on June 2nd of 2006. They have since sold many copies around the world.

Are you signed to a label yet?
The Lift has not yet been signed to a label.

Which one of your songs is your favorite so far and why?
Our favorite song to perform live is Once becasue we often incorporate popular cover songs in the middle of the song, and the end contains an accapella vocal jam.

Do you all write your own songs also?
All of the songs on our album is original material.

Do you like to write, record, or perform better? Why?
We love to perform. It is the most rewarding part of the music writing process. It is instant gratification for us, as we get to share the music with fans.

Who are some of your musical influences?
We love Zox, The Beatles, Matt Nathanson, Sublime, and Billy Joel

Are you all on tour or planning any tours?
We just finished our first summer tour, consisting of 15 dates all over the New York area.

Have any of you guys done any acting before?
We haven't done any acting as of yet. Perhaps we will one day make a feeble attempt at acting when we make a music video.

Give one peice of advice to aspiring bands what would it be?
Keep playing, and don't be afraid of hard work.

Anything you want your fans to know?
Thanks for your support. We really appreciate it.
