Hi girls of TruEmotion! Could you start by introducing yourselves?

Hey we’re TruEmotion. We strive to bring to the stage a passion; driven to inspire, lead, and direct a new generation to a positive message through music and performance. Our music and spontaneous personalities demand an all out performance driven by strong vocals and unique style. We are five sisters, Kansas (21), Jamie (19), Kasondra (17), Kelsie (16), and Jasmyn (14), and we have spent the last 7 years living out our dream. Born and raised in Iowa we have been influenced and inspired by many different genres and artists, which has helped us develop our unique style and sound. We entered the entertainment industry, at the ages of 6-13, with our involvement in TV commercials, and both local and regional performances. This past year has taken us to new levels and given us an opportunity to travel and perform from coast to coast. Now having signed with Bob Ladendorf of DVILLE Records, and teaming up with producers/writers, Kevan Cyka (Hilary Duff, Lifehouse, Jump 5, Avalon, Disney Mania 3&4 ) & Dan Needham (Stacie Orrico, Steven Curtis Chapman), along with professional choreographers and stylists, we are taking it to the next level.

You’re sisters. Do you find it hard spending so much time together with your careers or does it make it easier that you’re family?

We are a very close family and we feel very blessed to be able to live out our dream together. We have grown so much closer through this experience and are so excited for what is to come. Of course there are ups and downs with this career, but it’s so much easier to have each other to lean on for support. We love all the support from our parents and 5 year old sister Jamaica they inspire us to keep living out our dream and to make a positive impact on our generation.

How would you describe your musical style?

We call our style of music “Positive Pop” & “Christian Pop.” Our music impacts youth and relates to their lives. It’s something that they can listen to, sing, and dance along with. Our music is high in energy and full of passion.

Your first single is ‘2b or Not 2b’. Could you tell us a little about the song? Have you shot a video yet?

We chose “2b or Not 2b” as our first single because it carries a strong message that we want our fans to know. 2b or Not 2b talks about being who you are, and not letting the world influence who you are and the choices you make. It expresses how to not be influenced by the media, and to make decisions that come from your heart. Many times teens make choices and decisions just to impress others, rather than being happy with themselves. So many times we want to be someone other than ourselves. This song teaches youth to be proud of who they are and to not let anything influence them in a negative way.

We just finished shooting the video for this song at the end of summer (2006). It was a blast and turned out amazing.

Your album comes out in April 2007? What should fans expect from the album?

We are so excited about our album coming out in April 2007!!! Our fans should expect our music to be high energy and amazing!!! We know our fans will love it because they can relate it to and express who they are through our music.

What are some countries you’d really like to tour?

We would love to tour all over Europe, as well as the United States. We love traveling and want to bring our music to as many areas as possible. We are willing to go anywhere and travel all over.

What are your thoughts on being role models?

We are extremely honored to know that there are fans that look up to us because of who we are and what we do. We want to continue to make wise decisions that not only positively impact our group & family, but also our fans. There is nothing more important to us than being role models for all our fans and making a positive impact on our generation.

Do you write your own songs?

On our upcoming album we wrote 7 of the songs along with the help of our producers. We had a blast collaborating all of our thoughts and experiences to write the songs together!

Do you each have a favorite song that you’ve recorded so far?

We all have our own favorite songs even though we find it so hard to choose just one.

Kansas- You Belong
Jamie- Getaway
Kasondra- 2b or Not 2b
Kelsie- Stand By You
Jasmyn- Crazy Little Thing

What one achievement is the most important to you in your future career?

More than anything we want people to know, understand, and connect with our music. We have many dreams and we hope to achieve all of them with our fans, family, friends, and most of all with the help of the Lord.

Looking back, what has been the highlight so far for each of you?

Kansas- The highlight for me so far was being able to write and record our own music. It was so amazing to see all of our hard work and dedication pay off.
Jamie- The highlight for me was the taping of our music videos, especially our song “2b or Not 2b.”
Kasondra- The highlight for me was recording in the studio and hearing all the songs come together to make our album.
Kelsie- The highlight for me was doing the live performance for the video and seeing the audience’s reaction.
Jasmyn- The highlight for me was recording the music videos for green screen and seeing all the clips of the video come together to make the final product.

I love your song ‘Beautiful One’. Could you tell us a little about your faith and how important it is to you?

Our faith is the backbone to our group. We rely on the Lord’s guidance and direction for our group and our ministry. Everything that we do and say reflects who we are and the faith we have in Jesus Christ. We hope that people will not only be able to see our faith through our music but also through our actions. We want people that work with us to see that we are different because we are dedicated, hard working, and focused on what the Lord wants for our lives.

The song “Beautiful One,” is an amazing song that we chose to do a remix of. This song expresses the faith that we have in the Lord and our continual devotion to him. We hope that our fans will be able to see the Lord living in us through all we do.
