Myspace Band of the Week: Owl City
Sound is…
Members are… Adam Young began writing his unique style of pop music in 2007, and since then 'hasn't been able to stop.' The funky blend of his self-created synth techniques and poetic lyrics offers a very unique cache of music. From tracks such as Rainbow Veins, which sets the traditional techno with a melodic synth beat, to Fuzzy Blue Lights, whose story-like lyrics and warped voice blend together in perfect harmony, Young has brought his "Photography [and] travel" inspired music to the general public through his self-run myspace. He finds other sources of inspiration in children's novels, and Jacques Cousteau documentaries, and has an entirely different side project entitled Port Blue, which is made up completely of soothing ambient music (great for when doing homework, the link is on his Owl City Myspace.) A great musician and a green one at that, Young plans on staying in the business for awhile. He has two albums to each of his projects, and all are available for the usual prices on iTunes. Take a listen, it's pretty awesome.
