Five for Fighting: America Town Review - by Natalie

America Town is Five For Fighting’s 2nd album, after the debut album Message from Albert. Message from Albert was re-released after America Town’s success.

I got the album after hearing the tracks ‘Superman (It’s Not Easy)’, the second single from this album ‘Easy Tonight’ and a couple of other tracks, such as ‘If God Made You’ and ‘100 years’, which are from the third album, The Battle For Everything. The tracks mentioned are absolutely amazing, especially ‘If God Made You’. I fell in love with it as soon I heard it.

“If God made you, he must be in love with me”

01. Easy Tonight- absolutely brilliant, amazing lyrics, the chorus is fantastic 9/10
02. Bloody Mary (A note on apathy)- an ok song, the chorus is quite good 7/10
03. Superman (It’s not easy)- a really emotional, thoughtful song, you can see why it became such a success. 9/10
04. America Town- sweet music, very consistent 8/10
05. Something About You- loved this one. The lyrics are absolutely adorable. 10/10
06. Jainy- a very beautiful, emotional ballad of a love for a girl. I think this was very beautiful, but it isn’t exactly my type. 8/10
07. Michael Jordan- starts off pretty boring, but gets pretty exciting later. 7/10
08. Out of Love- I think it was ok, but it really isn’t my type. 6/10
09. The Last Great American- Even though this was really slow, I actually liked it, although I don’t usually like very slow songs. 8/10
10. Love Song- One of the best tracks! Contrary to its title, the song is written from the viewpoint of a child coping with his parents’ divorce. Very meaningful and powerful 10/10
11. Boat Parade- the rhythm is pretty good, I quite liked this. It’s actually the most different from the other tracks. 8/10
12. Alright- one of my favourites on this album. A very positive, sort-of upbeat song about life’s struggles. I really loved the chorus. 10/10

Overall, a brilliant album!
