Angels Wake: ...Light enough to travel - Review by Kat
...Light enough to travel is a short album that packs a lot of punch. The 6 song EP covers various topics, emotions and sounds.
The opening track 'Cross it out' is a simple tune that holds the most force in it's simple yet intense lyrics "Eraser marks on cold black ink/ can't change what's there/ to what might have been/ Can I do this over?/ Can I do this over again?"
The second track 'Going home' starts out as a soft vocally driven song with gorgeous poetical lyrics "Look around, you're not alone./ Come with Me, we're going home." Personally I believe the vocal performance on this track to be the most beautiful of the six songs. The singer shows a great vocal range and reallyuses his voice as an instrument in itself. This is one of my favorite songs on the EP.
'Art of Self Defense' the third track on the EP is more intense and heavy then the previous track. The music rings true with the emotion and the -sometimes - hunger of self defense. "And I hear this talk of love/ And I hear this talk of letting go"
The fourth track 'Change of Seasons' is another slower song with poetical lyrics of faith in a God who never changes. "You are still the same as you were yesterday/ A change of seasons never changes you"
The fifth track 'Benediction' is another slower song with powerful vocals and heartwrenching lyrics "I wish that I could heal you/ With words I cannot find". This is another of my favorite songs on the EP.
The final track 'Carry this, too' is a song about carrying additional baggage "You've got the world/ I think it's slipping/ From all the fear that you're gripping/ Trust in yourself". It's a great closing track. And I know this is losing meaning as I'm choosing so many songs but this is another of my favorites.
Overall '...Light enough to travel' is a great rock EP with true substance of lyrics and a great sound. Get your self a copy of the album via indieheaven.com
